Pre-press – Platemaker/Graphics/Forms Designer
Summary:
This position is to generate printing plates for press production, using Kodak Prinergy software, Magnus hardware. Also assist with accurately and efficiently troubleshooting and correcting customer files prior to offset print or digital operations.
Projects will involve offset prepress, color correction, editing, typesetting, proof production, plating and job preparation for final production.
This position requires an individual to analyze and solve the problem quickly and independently and move on to the next project.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
Interact with pressroom manager regarding plate/pressroom schedule
Maintain platesetter and processor
Interact with project manager to obtain or provide information regarding the design of current documents
Develop documents using desktop design systems and applications
Understand the scope of document design related to external and internal clients including elements needed for scanning accuracy
Prioritize resources and tasks for the most efficient use of those resources
Must be able to clearly communicate with team members and project management staff either verbally or in written form
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Graphic Arts or similar field preferred
3-4 years experience in prep-for-design offset and digital printing
Advanced knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Acrobat, Pitstop, Illustrator, Photoshop, MS Publisher,
Kodak Prinergy – Workshop, Preps, Insite
Demonstrated experience with Mac and Windows operating systems
Design and layout experience
Knowledge of direct to plate technology and imposition; prefer Kodak Prinergy
Ability to multi-task, trouble-shoot problems quickly, and work independently
Understands the correlation of quality inspection and ISO certification requirements

Reporting to this position:
No direct reports
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hour periods of time
Ability to look at a computer monitor, utilize a keyboard and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day
Ability to lift up to 40-50 pounds as necessary
This position will be occasionally exposed to some hazardous material and conditions. In addition there will also be occasional exposure to loud noise
