Overview
The Grant Writer position serves the mission of CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare (CFHC) by fulfilling two significant roles. First, the position fulfills the primary responsibility of leading the Foundation's development, writing and submission of foundation, corporate and individual grant proposals, and stewardship reports in conjunction with the Executive Director for Philanthropy and CFHC staff. Second, the position will work with CFHC programs and staff to collect, analyze, and prepare client, patient and program data to use for proposals, stewardship reports, and marketing and communications needs.
Responsibilities:
Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.Responsible for writing all CFHC grant proposals and stewardship reports.Collabortion with Executive Dircector for Philanthropy, as well as philanthropy and program staff to gather supporting data and information to write all grant proposals and stewardship reports to foundations, individuals and corporations.Maintain a master Grants Calendar andproposal pipeline of pending, existing and past grants, in coordination with philanthopy staff, to make sure all grant proposals and stewardship reports are submitted by required deadlines.Communicate with program and philanthropy staff in a timely manner regarding upcoming program information needs and approaching deadlines.Fully understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of CFHC and CHRISTUS Health along with the needs of the Houston-Galveston area to properly address requests for support.Research and identify new foundation, corporation and individual prospects for philanthropic opportunities that allign with the Foundation's mission.Coordinate with Finance Department and CFHC leadership to evaluate budgets and ensure grants are implemented according to the operational and financial needs of the organization in order to effectively provide program services.Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.Assist with the execution of CFHC's philanthropic strategy.Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in English, communications, creative writing, or a related area is preferred.Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must be able to multitask and meet deadlines.Minimum of 3 years of experience in grant writing or technical and letter writing experience required.Experience with Raisers' Edge NXT or similar CRM or donor database, preferred.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Background in fundraising or non-profit is preferred.
