Director of Experience Design (Transformative Design) Soul Seated Journey | Remote (Bay Area, CA) | Full-time Soul Seated Journey is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit pioneering innovative approaches to human flourishing by integrating contemplative wisdom, modern behavioral science, and technology. We create transformative pathways that help emerging adults develop inner clarity, resilience, and purpose. We're seeking a visionary Director of Transformative Design to architect evidence-based experiences that catalyze meaningful personal growth and holistic wellbeing for young people navigating today's complex world. ABOUT THE ROLE As Director of Transformative Design, you'll lead the architectural vision and implementation of our transformation journey—creating pathways that help individuals thrive across multiple dimensions of wellbeing while building resilience, clarity, and agency in emerging adults. This pivotal leadership role is one of three foundational positions that collectively shape our unique methodology at the intersection of science, wisdom traditions, and transformative experience design. What You'll Do: Design immersive transformation experiences that turn contemplative insights into accessible, modern practices Create frameworks that guide participants from inner clarity to active engagement with the world Develop measurement systems that track transformation across multiple dimensions of human flourishing Lead rapid iteration cycles to test and validate transformation pathways Partner with the Directors of Applied Spirituality and Compassion Science to create an integrated approach where science meets spirit Build the "inner architecture" for young people to become effective change-makers Work Arrangement: Remote with quarterly team travel to the Bay Area (required) On-site research and client visits as needed Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area (local candidates only) Future transition to hybrid (office + remote) as our team grows BENEFITS Health Insurance: 100% employer-paid premium for United Healthcare PPO "Gold" plan Dental Insurance: 80% employer-paid premium Retirement: 403(b) with 3% employer match Time Off: 15 days PTO, 12 paid holidays, 5 days sick leave, 2 "Spiritual Health Days" Professional Development: $1,000 annual allowance plus 2 paid days for workshops/training Volunteer Time Off: 1 paid day annually for community service Internet Stipend: $50 monthly for home office connectivity Who You Are Beyond skills and experience, we're seeking a proven leader whose personal values align with our mission—someone who brings compassion, self-discipline, and heart-led innovation to everything they create. A Transformation Architect who designs experiences that bridge inner development with systemic change A Compassionate Systems Thinker who sees interconnections between personal clarity and societal impact A Research-Driven Designer who grounds transformative experiences in evidence and measurable outcomes A Principles-Informed Innovator who translates contemplative wisdom into accessible modern pathways A Strategic Doer who can both envision transformative models and implement them with precision KEY QUALIFICATIONS Required Experience: 8+ years progressive experience in service design, experience design, or human-centered innovation At least 3+ years in leadership positions Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Design, HCI, or related field preferred Background in designing hybrid (digital + in-person) experiences Experience with qualitative research and measurement frameworks Highly Desired Experience: 10+ years total design experience Experience in wellness, education, human flourishing or personal development sectors Track record of building high-performing design teams Experience designing for behavior change and personal transformation Understanding of contemplative practices and their application to modern contexts About Soul Seated Journey We guide young and emerging adults toward comprehensive human flourishing—integrating mental, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions of wellbeing through science-informed, tech-enabled guidance and in-person programming.
