TITLE: Wild & Scenic Film Festival Operations Manager
TYPE: Full time and non-exempt
WAGE: $31.00-$37.00/hour
LOCATION: Nevada City, CA.
REPORTS TO: Wild & Scenic Film Festival Director
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival seeks a highly organized Operations Manager to oversee logistics and production for one of the largest environmental film festivals in the U.S., held annually in February in Nevada City and Grass Valley, CA. Reporting to the Festival Director and Executive Director, this role ensures a seamless, financially successful, and inspiring event.
Key Responsibilities
Festival Operations
- Manage festival logistics, timelines, permits, venues, and insurance.
- Oversee technical needs, equipment rentals, and staff scheduling.
- Coordinate school program operations with the Education Director.
- Hire and supervise seasonal staff and contractors, including tech crew and venue managers. Collaborate to establish volunteer roles and recruit volunteers.
- Oversee logistics, deliverables, and hospitality for filmmakers and guests.
- Lead post-event wrap-up, reporting, and debriefs.
- Oversee festival ticketing and online platform (Eventive etc)
- Lead organization of sustainability efforts, media lounge, and special events.
- Manage print traffic and film submissions.
- Support additional Wild & Scenic events throughout the year.
Communications & Marketing
- Collaborate with the Festival Director and Communications team on PR, marketing, and promotional efforts.
- Manage festival branding, advertising, artwork, and collateral production.
- Oversee website updates, social media content, and co-promotional partnerships.
- Coordinate call-for-entries campaigns and program booklet content.
Qualifications
- Strong project management and large event production experience.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office, CRM platforms (e.g. Hubspot), and project management tools (Asana).
- Experience with festival ticketing platforms (e.g. Eventive) and marketing tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva) is a plus.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
Work Conditions
- Full-time, with extended hours during the festival period.
- Occasional evening/weekend work and some travel required.
- Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs and sit for extended periods.

COMPENSATION
The compensation package includes an hourly pay rate range of $31 - $37 per hour, depending on experience, starting paid vacation of 14 days per year earned on an accrual basis, 10 paid holidays, 5 paid sick days, 100% employer paid health/dental/vision insurance, and 2% 401(k) retirement match (fully vested after 3 years).
