Research & Instruction Librarian – Southern Nazarene University – Bethany, OK
Research and Instruction is a faculty position that provides reference and information literacy services to the SNU community. The Research and Instruction Librarian will build research and instruction teams from the library staff and directly supervise the part-time reference librarians. This will be a learner-focused librarian who will lead outreach programs to impact students with research information-seeking skills and knowledge of quality library resources. Southern Nazarene University is an expression of the Church of the Nazarene. Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operation of the information station including virtual platforms.
- Schedule and supervise part-time reference librarians.
- Respond to information requests from SNU faculty, students, staff, and alumni.
- Collaborate with teaching faculty to deliver research and information instruction.
- Develop and teach sessions on research and information literacy.
- Design and produce information and instruction materials for regular use.
- Lead library colleagues in planning, developing, and delivering instruction.
- Develop evaluation tools to assess instruction and reference services.
- Provide on-demand reference services through Libguides and other platforms.
- Initiate information sharing and outreach services.
- Recommend library research sources for acquisition.
Educational/Experiential Requirements
- Master’s degree from an ALA accredited library science program.
- Minimum of two years of related work experience and/or relevant training.
- Familiarity with ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands in a fast-paced work environment.
- Experience with various computer software applications.
- Additional master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience in higher education is a plus.
