POSITION AVAILABLE AS REMOTE, HYBRID, OR IN-PERSONThe Communications Specialist will manage AHLA’s social media presence, generate engaging content for social media, marketing, and press copy using contemporary social media and AI tools. This team member maintains the continuity of AHLA’s voice across multiple platforms, including email, social media, and print collateral. The ideal candidate will collaborate with various departments to ensure consistent and effective implementation of the organization’s communication strategy.Key Responsibilities
Social Media Management: Manage AHLA’s social media accounts, voice, and schedule. Create and curate content tailored to different platforms. Collaborate to optimize the social media strategy, in alignment with the organizational priorities. Monitor, respond, and engage with followers. Monitor, analyze, and report on quantifiable performance and suggest improvements.Generate and Manage Written Copy: Generate compelling organizational copy targeted for a variety of marketing channels, including social media, email, press, and print collateral. Leverage AI tools to develop copy/content suites, observing best practices and testing emerging tools and approaches. Ensure the public voice of AHLA is consistent and aligns with AHLA’s mission, vision, and strategic plan. Develop, maintain, and oversee copy/content suites to ensure copy is accurate and consistent with offerings.Interdepartmental Collaboration: Monitor marketing and communications schedules to ensure timely development and implementation of communications content. Work with staff/volunteer leadership and legal content experts to gain product insights and ensure accuracy of communications. Provide proofs of copy for review and revisions, synthesize changes and feedback, and ensure continuity of final product. Monitor copy/content suites to maintain current information.Press Releases and Media Coordination: Oversee the creation and distribution of press releases. Coordinate with media contacts and outlets to ensure effective communication and coverage. Collaborate with firms and outside organizations on press and communications. Monitor press email account.Creative Content: Collaborate with designers to request creative graphics, creative suites, and design templates for social media content. Create and update digital graphics and video using design templates to generate unique content as needed. Maintain AHLA brand guidelines in creating, updating, and deploying creative content.General Marcom Departmental Support: Provide support for in-house and paid advertising. Support the marketing team in crafting and distributing broadcast emails and e-newsletters as necessary.Qualifications
Superior Writing and Editing Abilities: Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and experience targeting content by channel and audience.AI Software Knowledge: Understand contemporary use of AI software for copy generation, its benefits and pitfalls, and best practices.Design/Video Software Experience: Basic knowledge and experience using video editing and graphic design tools is preferred for generating social media content (i.e., Vimeo, Canva and Adobe Products).Email Marketing Experience: Basic experience in using broadcast email systems to generate newsletters and/or marketing emails preferred (i.e., Higher Logic, Hubspot).Social Media Scheduling Software: Experience using social media scheduling tools (i.e., Sprout Social, Agora Pulse).Communication and Collaboration: Strong people skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with multiple departments, accept revisions and feedback, and compromise.Association Experience: Prior experience working in an association environment is preferred.Seniority Level Entry levelEmployment Type TemporaryJob Function Marketing, Public Relations, and Writing/EditingIndustries Education Administration Programs
