THECB is observing a hybrid telecommuting schedule with employees required to be in the office at least two (2) days per week. The agency is located at the George Herbert Walker Bush State Building located in the Capitol Complex at 1801 N. Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78701. This intern position is a limited term, part-time, 20 hours per week position, 2.5 days each week. Introduction: This role will collaborate with the team's marketing specialists and visual designer to brainstorm, create, and monitor creative and innovative social media content for THECB and the agency's sub-brands. This position will create social media content in static, animated, and video formats General Description: This position is a member of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) marketing team and supports the agencys social media efforts. The social media intern will work with the marketing specialists and visual designer to brainstorm, create, and monitor creative and innovative social media content for agency channels, including the THECBs main social channels as well as channels for agency sub-brands Texas OnCourse, whose audience is Texas educators, and My Texas Future, whose audience is working-age Texans. The social media intern will create content in static, animated, and video formats. This position is a hybrid position, with some in-office hours. This position will benefit from collaboration with a professional team of marketers and designers in a state agency environment connected to higher education policy. General Duties and Responsibilities: Brings innovative and fresh ideas to the team for social media content on Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter/X. Collaborates with the marketing team on content ideation and creation, including video, static, and animated content. Creates content for social media under the direction of marketing specialists and the art director/ visual designer. In partnership with marketing specialists, monitors performance of content and makes recommendations on future content based on performance. Stays on top of industry trends. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of trends and developments in social media Skill in using personal computers, databases, and general office software, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel. Skill in using software such as Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Adobe Express, and Canva Ability to craft messaging and creative and content ideas that generate engagement on social media channels. Ability to take initiative and work independently. Ability to collaborate with diverse individuals and groups. Ability to gather, analyze, translate, and communicate complicated information in a clear, effective, organized, concise, professional, and courteous way with individuals from diverse social, ethnic, economic, and cultural backgrounds. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to perform detailed work accurately. Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability toward changes in assignments. Military Crosswalk:Military Crosswalk for Occupational Category - Information and Communication (texas.gov) Qualifications: Required Minimum Education and Experience: Currently a college graduating senior or graduate student in advertising, communications, English, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a similar field. Professional experience in creating multimedia content on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter/X. Professional experience may be substituted for classwork. Experience in Adobe design software. Preferred: Experience in digital marketing metrics. Physical Requirem nts and/or Working Conditions: Work is performed in a standard office environment and requires: Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance at work; Frequent use of personal computer, copiers, printers, and telephones; Frequent sitting, and Frequently working under deadlines, as a team member, and in direct contact with others.
