Base pay range $90,000.00/yr - $108,000.00/yr Position Title: Associate Designer Reports To: Senior Designer Pay Rate: Salaried, with benefits. Commensurate with experience Benefits: Vacation and holidays, Health, Dental, Vision, 401K plan, profit sharing program, annual professional development stipend Pay Period: 1st and 15th of the month Position Purpose: This is a full-time, management-level position for an experienced, hands-on, positive and reliable Designer to work directly with the Senior Designer and Designer on all aspects of design and project management. The Associate Designer is expected to translate the Principal's aesthetic vision into client presentations, communicate project design both verbally and visually, and embody the spirit and professionalism of the firm. The Associate Designer will work collaboratively with the Design Team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to: Administrative Responsibilities: Juggle multiple deadlines, project scopes and aesthetics simultaneously. Work with the Studio Director to ensure the project management and resourcing of the studio personnel is accurate. Manage accurate and timely Client Order and Purchase Order pricing data in Studio Designer system. Oversee accurate project team action item lists using Asana system. Personnel/Human Resources Responsibilities: Efficiently supervise Design Assistants and Studio Assistants on multiple projects; demonstrate strong communications skills. Business Development: Assist with photoshoot coordination, sourcing, styling and onsite facilitation. Utilize detailed knowledge of trade resources and vendors. Maintain existing, and grow new, vendor contacts and relationships. Attend industry events, trade shows and openings. Client Management: Attend client meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and create task lists for distribution using Asana. Manage the creation of accurate Client Orders and Vendor Orders prior to client and vendor submission. Oversee project installation scheduling and coordination in collaboration with Studio Director. Responsible for own accurate and within-budget design time hours. Maintain and grow thoughtful professional relationships with clients and vendors. Create solutions and communicate with clients and colleagues in a timely manner and in the spirit of the firm’s mission and values. Design: Research and develop furniture plans, custom furnishing designs and material schemes that match the client's aesthetic, functional goals and budget. Assist Senior Designer and Designer with the design and development of all projects; create drawings, boards, fabric schemes and any relevant items for client presentations. Research and source furniture, lighting, fabrics, wallpapers and interior finishes within project budget and aesthetic. Oversee Design Assistant and Studio Assistant timely and accurate vendor quote process and Client Order creation. Create and maintain project budgets. Manage item specifications and Construction Schedules with accurate product information for all furniture, plumbing, appliances, lighting and finishes. Coordinate vendor and installer site visits, workroom visits, and in-person meeting to ensure successful project deliverables. Ensure the project Picture Book is updated with all item tear sheets, customization notes, specifications and drawings. Interface with Studio Director to manage item expediting process (vendor to warehouse), adhere to project deadlines. Works with Design Assistants and Studio Assistants to ensure all design hours are within billable quotes. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS: Degree in Interior Design. Minimum of 4 years interior design experience. 1+ years of experience as a management-level Designer. Excellent communication and presentation skills, including space planning, hand and digital drafting. Extensive experience selecting and specifying lighting, furnishings, hardware, floor/window coverings, materials, and finishes. Experience with managing purchasing and budgets. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Photoshop, Illustrator. Work under pressure, produce deliverables and meet deadlines. Experience managing design staff on project teams. Current driver’s license with access to car. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Most work tasks are performed in a space where the environmental conditions vary widely. Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the property or other areas on a timely basis. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. Must be able to move items weighing in excess of 50 lbs. routinely. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to perform daily tasks. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates. Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate basic design equipment. Must be able to work well under pressure managing multiple deadlines. Ability to work with potential allergenic properties inherent in various materials.
