Position Overview
The MCICOM G7 Communications Planner will support the COMSTRAT branch in executing the COMSTRAT program effectively. The role involves ensuring MCICOM communicates effectively to inform stakeholders and maximize operational success. The Communications Planner will integrate COMMSTRAT considerations into the Marine Corps Planning Process (MCPP) via DC I&L and the MCICOM commander’s decision cycle, supporting operational and institutional goals through communication-specific planning within the Boards, Bureaus, Centers, & Cells structure.
Essential Job Functions
- Participate in all steps of MCICOM MCPP.
- Incorporate research findings into COMMSTRAT support concepts during planning.
- Identify risks and potential impacts of proposed actions on audience perception.
- Advise on message and action alignment for proposed actions, images, and messages throughout planning.
- Develop COMMSTRAT support concepts in coordination with MCICOM portfolios.
- Develop COMMSTRAT strategies, campaigns, and plans in coordination with staff and external agencies as needed.
- Create COMMSTRAT annexes and appendices for operations orders.
- Develop Proposed Public Affairs Guidance (PPAG), coordinate with relevant agencies, and submit for higher headquarters approval.
- Lead or support the Commander’s Communication Synchronization working group.
Minimum Qualifications
- Over ten (10) years of specialized experience supporting similar tasks, with a Bachelor’s Degree, or over five (5) years of experience with a Master’s Degree.
- Secret Security Clearance.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a Director, Public Affairs, Strategic Communications Planner, Chief Public Relations Officer, Chief Public Information Officer, Brand Manager, or Marketing Director.
