User Discovery: Requires knowledge of: User experience strategies; User interviews and surveys; User journeys; Story boards; Contextual inquiries. To demonstrate awareness of trends in user consumption habits to develop or improve interaction design and user experience strategies. Proactively identifies areas for user profile enhancements and new participatory design features based on user interviews and surveys. Plans site visits to end users. Maintains appropriate records of user observations. Presents data from site visits in ways that can be used to drive design (for example, user stories, user journey maps). Critically evaluates previous user research from multiple sources and perspectives.
Managing Functional Partnerships: Requires knowledge of: Stakeholder identification and mapping; Stakeholder analysis; Stakeholder communication; Stakeholder engagement techniques; Stakeholder management effectiveness tools and methods; Fluency in many specialized business vernacular; Deep understanding of diverse markets to deliver customer and business value; adapt style and best practices to accommodate cultural differences. To build and maintain collaborative and strategic alliances with a wide range of partners across the business and industry; leverage their support to drive business programs & priorities. Create an environment that supports collaboration with people from different functions and have different technical viewpoints. Provide insights on the impact of cross functional team collaboration on achieving strategic goals. Support colleagues and stakeholders to develop their understanding of technology, business and performance to identify solutions to deliver improved services, solutions and relationships.
Design Research: Requires knowledge of: Principles of research; Best practices of qualitative and quantitative research; Data analysis techniques; Techniques to detect gaps in information; Legal risks, factual errors, and breaches of codes of conduct involving the use of research material; Organizational research requirements; Success metrics for research projects; Purpose of research and how it will be used; Values, limitations, and risks of sources and social networks for research purposes; Emerging methods for obtaining relevant information. To commission and oversee the research project plans until project reaches the finalization stage. Drives the main research objectives and resource constraints of projects. Determines research procedures and research methods best suited to collect and analyze information. Oversees the interpretation of research findings to ensure relevancy. Drives improvements to research processes and practices to improve research outcomes.
Driving Customer/Client Needs: Requires knowledge of: Customer and business problems; Dependencies and impacts on product processes/ways of working; Journey mapping; Process optimization; Communication and influencing techniques. To enable the creation of an ecosystem involving customers, vendors, and partners to create solutions that meet customer needs in a pre-emptive manner. Fosters the importance of understanding the customer needs for designing solutions, within the organization. Works with customers and business partners to identify and remove barriers.
Prototyping: Requires knowledge of: Prototyping disciplines, tools, and techniques within target environments; User-centered design principles; Information hierarchy and design principles, task analysis, and system design processes. To drive adherence to and use of interaction patterns and templates to design prototypes that account for primary and secondary use cases, complex data exchanges, and error conditions and contribute to the pattern library. Evaluates the types of prototypes and technologies to be used to design and develop prototypes and technical proofs of concept. Provides guidance to build interactive models that can access live content with reusable components and tools to enable and facilitate prototyping. Evaluates current standards, policies, and guidelines in the development of prototypes.
Interaction Design: Requires knowledge of: User-centered design principles; Native mobile conventions and capabilities (for example, Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for iOS, Google's Android design patterns); Information hierarchy principles; Task analysis; System design processes. Interaction patterns and templates. To coach team members/ stakeholders on the evaluation of various designs. Compares and contrasts approaches and tools to measure the business impacts of alternative user experience designs. Creates and defines interaction patterns and templates to design consistent and scalable design solution that accounts for primary and secondary use cases, more complex data exchanges, and complete error conditions and contribute to the pattern library. Serves as subject-matter expert for user consumption habits in order to guide the development strategy for interaction design and the user experience strategy.
Visual Design: Requires knowledge of: User-centered design principles; Native mobile conventions and capabilities (for example, Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for iOS, Google's Android design patterns); Templates and style guides; Design tools. To coach team members on the evaluation of various designs. Compares and contrasts approaches and tools to measure the business impacts of alternative designs for industry standard visual experiences. Creates and defines templates and style guides to design consistent and scalable design solutions at the enterprise level.
Influencing and Building Stakeholder Consensus: Requires knowledge of: Verbal/Non-verbal behaviors; Application and allocation of Business Communication styles/techniques in ambiguous and challenging situations; Communication channels/mediums; Interpersonal skills and universal relationship building with ability to connect seemingly unconnected parties; Influencing styles. To lead discussions with varying viewpoints confidently. Influence diverse audiences using customized communication and appropriate frameworks. Leverage fact-based data & analytics insights to build a cohesive narrative and present in a clear, concise and meaningful way. Demonstrate superior decision and coordination skills when faced with conflicting or ambiguous inputs. Become a trusted advisor to diverse stakeholders, influencing them to act on the product/technology matters. Provide respectful, effective, timely feedback and seek, internalize, and utilize received feedback.
Usability Testing and Iteration: Requires knowledge of: User profiles; Testing scenarios; Documentation; Test plans To perform testing against a design specification and solves testing issues. Consults on test strategies, components, processes, plans, and approaches during the user acceptance testing process. Compares and contrasts the features and benefits of major acceptance testing frameworks. Applies user acceptance testing in typical software development scenarios. Critiques user acceptance plans for appropriateness and completeness. Develops approaches for acceptance testing according to legal or contractual agreements. Monitors end users in defining the testing environment and acceptance criteria. Explains the importance of active participation in test designs and other testing phases.
Minimum Qualifications...
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 7 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area. Option 2: 9 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.4 years’ supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications...
Design certification (for example, IDEOU - Foundations in Design Thinking Certificate), Driving product development in a user experience area, Master's degree in UI/UX Design, Interactive and Visual Design, Product Design, or related area, Related industry experience (for example, retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare), UI/UX, Interactive and Visual Design, Electronics Art, Multimedia Design, or related area, We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
