Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:The Business Administration and Entrepreneurship Department at Sam Houston State University invites applicants with credentials in Business Communication for an Assistant Professor rank, tenure-track position to begin in August 2025.
Responsibilities include teaching courses in business communication (3 courses each fall semester and 3 courses each spring semester), carrying out an active research agenda, and engaging in university, department, and professional service.
An earned Doctorate in professional communication, business communication, corporate communication, organizational communication, technical communication, or a related area is required. ABD candidates will be considered; full completion of the degree is required prior to the start date of the appointment.
Experience Required for the Position:Candidates should have applied experience in the field of Business and/or appropriate experience teaching business communication, professional communication, or corporate communication. Qualification under AACSB standards and the ability to maintain that qualification is expected.
Other Requirements for the Position:Candidates with demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence and a strong process-oriented teaching philosophy related to writing, presenting, and other communication skills are strongly preferred. Candidates should have demonstrated scholarly activity commensurate with experience. Preferred candidates will be able to teach courses in the following areas: business writing and presentations, visual communication, intercultural communication, generative AI.
Relevant industry experience and research in emerging areas is desirable and highly valued. Expertise engaging students in face-to-face, blended/hybrid, and online formats is strongly preferred.
