Overview
The Audio Visual Specialist is responsible for researching, designing, and planning, and implementing audio visual (AV) technology for classrooms, multi-purpose rooms, event spaces, conference rooms, and residential spaces. The Audio Visual Specialist recommends AV solutions to their supervisors and campus clients. Upon approval, the Audio Visual Specialist works with vendors and campus purchasing to procure AV technology and coordinates the delivery and installation of AV technology with internal resources and/or installation vendors. The position is responsible for the maintenance and regular updates of AV technology and for developing a multi-year audio visual technology refreshment plan. The position supports teaching and learning activities and production support for internal and external campus events, including the setup, operation, and tear down of audio visual technology as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
25% A. Researches, plans, and coordinates the use of AV technology for classrooms, public event spaces, multi-purpose rooms, conference rooms, and residential spaces. Establishes and enforces standards for AV technology used by the college.
25% B. Provides leadership on AV technology projects by working with campus personnel and vendors to coordinate the installation of new AV technology.
25% C. Coordinates with Events and Conference Services to determine the necessary technical supports such as lighting, sound, staging, and special needs, necessary for events and performances presented in advance of event dates. Installs, configures, operates, and troubleshoots equipment needed for internal and external client events.
10% D. Maintains the college's AV technology. Resolves issues by repairing hardware, software, or cabling. Resolution may also involve replacing equipment upon approval by their supervisor. Provides support throughout the scheduled workday to faculty, staff, and customers using the college's AV technology.
5% E. Troubleshoots and decides the best way to proceed in event of equipment failure. Works with event leadership to reach consensus on a solution and implement the solution.
5% F. Maintains an accurate inventory system of AV technology.
5% G. Works with their supervisor to develop and implement a multi-year audio visual replacement cycle.
Education:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Music, Music Production, Theatre, Theatre Production, or related field is preferred.
Professional Experience:
Required: 3 years demonstrated audio visual technology experience which includes implementing and configuring audio and video mixers, microphones, cameras, projectors, displays, amplifiers, speakers, and video-teleconference solutions.
Preferred: 5 years demonstrated audio visual technology experience which includes implementing and configuring audio and video mixers, microphones, cameras, projectors, displays, amplifiers, speakers, and video-teleconference solutions in several different venues. Experience maintaining, installing, repairing, and designing AV technology solutions. Experience working in various venues, including those with a capacity of 500+ guests. Experience configuring digital control systems (e.g., Extron, Crestron, and ther commercial/professional control systems) is preferred.
