Job Summary:
San Bernardino City Unified School District seeks an enthusiastic and skilled Itinerant Music Teacher committed to delivering exceptional music education across multiple district sites. This role involves developing and implementing an engaging music program in alignment with the California Visual and Performing Arts Framework, promoting students' musical talents, creativity, and appreciation for music.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate music program, including pre-band and band instruction, aligned with the California Visual and Performing Arts Framework.
- Schedule and conduct daily classes and coordinate student performances, including recruiting and retaining students in the music program.
- Foster an inclusive, inspiring, and creatively stimulating learning environment encouraging student participation and enthusiasm for music.
- Regularly assess student performance, adapting instructional approaches based on assessment data and clearly communicating progress to parents and school staff.
- Collaborate effectively with administrators, colleagues, and families to support the successful delivery of district-wide music education.
- Actively participate in Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) meetings, district-sponsored professional development, and music events.
- Provide instructional coaching and support at various sites to enhance implementation and effectiveness of the District music curriculum.
- Undertake additional responsibilities and projects as needed to support the ongoing success of the music program.
Qualifications:
- Valid California K-12 Single Subject Music Credential.
- Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music required.
- English Language Learner Authorization (CLAD, BCLAD, or equivalent) required.
- Demonstrated experience planning and delivering a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate music education program.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with administrators, faculty, and parents.
- Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between district sites; auto liability insurance required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience integrating technology effectively within music instruction.
- Familiarity with instructional strategies for comprehensive and balanced music education.
- Ability to analyze program effectiveness and adapt instructional materials accordingly.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to actively engage students in instructional music activities, including extended periods of standing and demonstrating instrumental or vocal techniques.
- Adequate visual and auditory capabilities necessary for effective music instruction and classroom management.
Education & Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Music required; advanced degrees preferred.
- Valid California Single Subject Music Credential with appropriate EL authorization.
Salary & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range: $66,593 – $121,493 annually, dependent on education, credentials, and experience.
