Wilkes University invites applicants for an open Music Theory high school enrichment teaching position in the Upward Bound Program for the summer session. Upward Bound is a federally funded Trio Program, which provides support to participants in their preparation for college and ultimately, in their higher education pursuits.

The successful candidate is responsible for implementing the enrichment component of the Program by introducing students to the fundamentals of music theory, including but not limited to notation, rhythm, scales, key signatures, intervals, and basic harmony. Students will also learn to analyze simple musical compositions and explore the relationships between melody, harmony, and rhythm. Emphasis will be placed on developing ear training skills, sight-reading, and the ability to understand and apply theoretical concepts in practice. A Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, and/or a related field is required. Experience working with high school students or in a college-preparatory program is preferred.

Please note that this is a part-time/temporary position with a competitive hourly wage. Dates run from June 23rd through July 31st and classes are held throughout the week, Mondays and Wednesdays (1:15 P.M. - 2:30 P.M.).
