PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Project Engineering Analyst - Scheduling and Visual Analytics assists Project Engineering Americas departmental managers (Sr. Manager Project Engineering, Project Coordination, Package and Control and Core Engineering managers), in task monitoring and overall shop order execution status, identify potential delays through the engineering and design phase of Elliott systems. Position will require development/programming of visual analytic software/s (Qlik, Tableau, etc..) to combine fragmented data streams in order to monitor discreet departmental task and project deliverables from internal and external customer/suppliers for critical information, and directly provide the management team information needed to keep projects on time and within budget.
BACKGROUND and EXPERIENCEDemonstrated critical thinking and business process mapping skill and a history of identifying and implementing process (business and/or manufacturing) improvements across a Team or department.B.S. degree in business, engineering, Information Technology, or science field.Prior experience with data analytics and creating dashboards preferred.Direct experience programming Microsoft products (excel, Projects, etc..) to combine and cross reference large files into a single consolidated report.Experience extracting and processing data from PLM systems (preferably Windchill), Oracle, Lotus notes, SAP, Noetics into actionable metricsThorough understanding of scheduling sequence of Project Engineering and Drafting deliverables from order inception though order execution to support large scale heavy machinery manufacturing schedulesProactive planning skills to analyze information across multiple reports and meetings to determine how information will affect Project Engineering ability to maintain schedule and budget.Experience required programming multilayered analytic architecture on visual analytic platforms such as Oracle Projects or Qlik Sense analytics.Direct experience developing actionable analytics in addition to standard milestone metrics (like KPI's) from the ground up by referencing flat data files from multiple data sourcesKnowledge of the Elliott product line.Proficiency with Manufacturing Planning and basic spreadsheet and composition software. (i.e. Excel, Word, MS Project).SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES
Communicate technical issues potentially affecting project schedule adherence quickly and concisely up the chain of command and while working with Project Coordinators and Package and Control Engineering and Project Core Engineering on resolution. Sense of urgency, understanding issues of concern and a rapid resolution are keys to success in this roleTransition Project Engineering from antiqued, excel based reporting analytics structure using dead data requiring a in depth analysis to interpret information into a modernized visual analytic software platform (Qlik) combining Elliott's live fragmented data streams (Oracle, Windchill, Lotus Notes, Solutions, Microsoft Projects, departmental excel files/programs) into an interactive format providing critical information across Elliott Project Teams and Management. The intent of this position is to develop modern analytics to drive project visibly across all stake holders (Procurement, PE, PM, Supplier delivery Management, Production Control, Project Planning) with live data allowing process owners to quickly effect change keeping projects on track. This process will require developing/programing and supporting Qlik data reports for departments outside of PE. In depth knowledge of shop order execution process and procedures will be crucial for success in this effort.Lead interdepartmental weekly meetings between PE (ME, I&C, PEC) and Drafting (Master and Cryo Design) recording project execution status. Qlik visual reporting will be developed to track on time completion of Drafting (Master and Cryo) and PE tasks. Monitoring specific information flowing between Project Engineering and Drafting (Master and Cryo) to prevent delays in design documentation issuance and manufacturing process of Elliott systemsUtilize Microsoft Projects to develop and maintain discrete tack schedules across all Project Engineering sub departments (PEC, ME, I&C and Project Core Engineering). Each project schedule to be developed to provide project-by-project status from a high-level down to discrete task completion including metrics measuring departmental performance to individual performanceA full set of detailed Elliott Work Instructions defining newly implemented visual analytic processes and procedure are to developed, issued, including updates to Project Engineering Department Operation Manual.Assist Project Engineers on an as needed basis with activities related to customer visits for inspections, Hazop meetings, and critical witness points.Establish, track and distribute metrics for on time performanceAudit project execution activities and adherence to departmental work instructions and report findings to managementCompile, organize data required to perform project lessons learned meetings upon order shipmentAssist Management in the completion of projects by finalizing customer documentation on an as needed basis, typically required on specific high specification orders.Process PRL's, ECN's, NCR's and other administrative tasks to ensure order execution stays on track including creation of shop order BOM structure within Elliott's PLM system (Windchill)
