Overview
The High School Musical Accompanist provides piano accompaniment for rehearsals and performances of the annual musical production at Newberg High School. This position plays a key role in supporting student performers and contributing to the artistic quality and success of the school musical
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Proficient piano skills, especially in musical theater repertoire and sight-reading. Ability to follow a conductor and support vocalists and actors in performance. Strong understanding of musical theater style and vocal performance. Reliable, flexible, and organized. Strong collaborative skills and a positive attitude. Experience:
Prior experience accompanying musical theater productions preferred. Experience working with high school students and theater departments is a plus.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. College level coursework or degree in music preferred.
Certification Required:
None
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Work closely with the musical director and theater team to accompany auditions, rehearsals and live performances. Rehearse and perform a full-length musical score, including vocal and instrumental parts as needed. Collaborate with cast members to reinforce musical timing and vocal accuracy. Maintain a professional and supportive presence during all rehearsals and shows. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must be dependable, flexible, and capable of working within a school theater environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional behavior with students and staff. Must pass a backgrouch check per district policy
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense to carry out accurate and clear written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.

uses hand strength to grasp tools. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25
pounds. The employee may be required to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods
of time.

Stipend: TBD according to 2025-26 Extra duty Stipend Schedule
($1,706 - $2,193 Group H of the 2024-25 Extra Duty Stipend Schedule)
