JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for coordinating technical aspects of productions including managing equipment, coordinating with production teams, and ensuring a smooth execution of production technology and set designs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Design a set in accordance with the show selection and allotted time frame, meeting the Theater Director’s approval.Schedule and supervise student-set building time as applicable.Assist in providing technical instruction to theater students as applicable.Monitor and evaluate crew progress and report deficiencies to the Theater Director as necessary.Ensure the safe and proper operation of theater facilities in accordance with accepted college practices.Assist with light and sound design for the productions in collaboration with the Theater Director.Responsible for the breakdown of the set and production technology after the final performance of each run.SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Supervision received from the Chief Academic Officer (CAO).
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s degree in a theater-related field and/or extensive successful theatrical technical directing and set construction experience at the high school/community theater level. A bachelor’s degree in a theater-related field is preferred.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to motivate and collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders.Commitment to continuous improvement, learning, and promotion of excellence.Exemplary work ethic, organizational skills, and the ability to produce results.Team player, able to work with others, exemplify a cooperative approach to solving problems.Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize assignments.Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines.Ability to respond with diplomacy and good judgment.Excellent oral and written communication skills to support a wide variety of interactions with varying levels of staff, students, other educators/administrators, and the general public from diverse backgrounds.
