The Senior Marketing Manager will lead strategic marketing efforts to position Truckee as a premier, year-round destination while promoting responsible tourism. This is a hands-on role that requires managing paid media, executing content strategy, and industry collaborations to drive midweek and shoulder-season visitation, visitor education, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and a doer – comfortable balancing high-level planning and day-to-day execution. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Destination Marketing & Brand Promotion Develop and execute strategic marketing campaigns that position Truckee as a premier year-round destination, focusing on attracting the right visitors at the right time, with an emphasis on midweek and off peak lodging demand. Manage and implement content development in key marketing channels (paid, earned, owned) that are needed to accomplish the organization's priorities and goals in Brand Promotion. Oversee and manage all paid media initiatives, including media planning, buying, and optimization across digital, social, search, video, and traditional channels, ensuring maximum return on investment and alignment with Visit Truckee-Tahoe’s strategic plan. Manage a balanced marketing mix strategy across bought (paid media), earned (PR, influencer), and owned (website, social, email) channels, ensuring campaigns are data-driven and strategically allocated. Content Strategy, Creation & Management Manage and develop content strategy and execution across all consumer-facing channels, including social media, email marketing, website content, digital campaigns, and national/local media to ensure cohesive storytelling and brand alignment. Actively manage and optimize website content, functionality features and integrations, including the booking engine, to drive visitor engagement and lodging referrals, ensuring up-to-date information on travel conditions, seasonal activities, and responsible visitor behavior. Own, manage and scale CRM campaigns, including, but not limited to, email marketing, surveys, SMS campaigns, and audience segmentation, ensuring targeted and effective communication. Analyze content performance metrics and adjust strategies to maximize reach, engagement, and conversion for organizational goals plus midweek and off-peak visitation goals. Tourism Partner Engagement Assist in communications and meeting facilitation with local stakeholders, including lodging partners, businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies, fostering collaboration and awareness of VTT’s role in the local economy. Help facilitate key messaging and updates for stakeholders through newsletters, presentations, and other digital communications. Provide marketing and content support for community-facing initiatives, including stewardship education, visitor behavior messaging, and Sustainable Truckee programs. Administrative support for the organization as needed including Board Meeting coordination. EDUCATION & KEY WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum five years of experience in marketing management level position(s) focused on Place-Branding including a tourism destination, large HOA, amusement/amenity attraction, ski area or lodging property. Helpful if experience at a destination that is dependent upon ski area visitation. Minimum four-year degree from an academic institution in business, marketing, communications, PR or closely related field. SKILLS Team-oriented, positive attitude, and highly dependable with a commitment to producing high-quality work. Experience managing paid media campaigns, working with agencies or vendors for digital, social, and traditional advertising. Experience with social media content creation, community management and strategic planning for social growth. Strong analytical skills with the ability to track and interpret data to optimize campaigns. Experience using Figma, Adobe Creative Suite or other similar platforms. Experience managing website content using Drupal, Webflow, or similar CMS platforms. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong copywriting ability for both long-form and short-form content with high attention to detail. Photography and video production skills are a plus. Workplace location is a hybrid (at-home/work from co-work space) requiring primary residency in Truckee or North Lake Tahoe. Ten paid holidays (can be taken on or within +/- 15 days of the actual holiday). 15 PTO days (sick, vacation). $100/month cell phone and internet expense reimbursement, pre-tax. Corporate issued Macbook Pro + Large Monitor. Option to use personal laptop and/or screen for monthly, expense reimbursement determined by age and original cost of laptop. At-home ergonomic assessment ($350 value) + up to $500 for office equipment if needed. QSEHRA health plan reimbursement up to $1,066.66/month allowance. Bonus is contingent upon Board vote, taking into account factors including and not limited to individual performance, team and organization performance, lodging industry growth and economic conditions.
