FLSA: Professional, ExemptUpdated: May 2024The Sr. Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for the development and implementation of broad reaching, omnichannel, and data-driven, marketing, communication, and brand strategies that focus on growing/retaining community members, generating awareness of (and participation in) St Luke’s social initiatives, and advancing the St. Luke’s UMC brand.Reporting to the Executive Director of Administration and partnering with staff and lay leaders, the Sr. Director will develop and lead a comprehensive marketing strategy for introducing new people in the Central Florida area to the programs, mission opportunities, and other ministries available at St. Luke’s. They will adapt the brand strategy to each target market, ensuring effective outreach and engagement. Additionally, the Sr. Director will be accountable for developing media strategies, overseeing both earned and paid advertising/media efforts, and implementing a reporting strategy to monitor marketing performance against goals and optimize as needed.The Sr. Director will oversee the work of the other members of the marketing team, who in addition to external outreach, lead the internal efforts to support church staff and community members through weekly emails, print media and design for weekly worship and programs. The Sr. Director will be responsible for providing direction, guidance and leadership to the department while also actively executing on campaigns across the website, app, podcasts, email, social media content, paid/organic search and more.

Must be a team player with the ability to develop and manage teams of people to perform required functions, and work with outside vendors when needed.Reports to:

Communications Assistant, and various creative volunteer teamsRESPONSIBILITIES:Strategy/Leadership:·

Collaborate with ministry directors to establish and expand creative visions for ministries and communicate them effectively to the church and community.·

Provide strategic direction for the church’s brand, including its digital presence, across internal and external communications, marketing, and public relations.·

Ensure the church's brand remains fresh and relevant by regularly evaluating and updating creative processes, content, and brand identity to appeal to and stay relevant to target markets.·

Inspire and manage the marketing, communications, and creative teams, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.·

Lead ideation sessions and brainstorming with staff and volunteers to generate new ideas and concepts and facilitate problem-solving.·

Develop strategies for engaging with existing online worship participants and attracting new participants.·

Maintain consistency in internal and external communications, ensuring alignment with the church's message while adapting design and tone for different audiences.·

Design and implement digital marketing strategies, analyze data (traffic and user metrics), conduct market research as needed, and ensure consistency of the brand's overall tone and presence.·

Lead the ongoing development, design, and functionality of websites, podcasts, apps, social media, video content, and other public-facing assets, as well as strategies to reach different audiences.·

Oversee creative planning systems to regularly produce engaging content, facilitate creative meetings, and streamline processes from concept to execution.·

Manage content across various platforms, including the website, social media, email newsletters, worship guides, and other public-facing communications.·

Create a platform for the Lead Pastor to effectively reach the unconnected community and expand the church's influence.Execution·

Collaborate with pastors and staff to assemble and lead a network of team members, including lay volunteers with various skills, talents, and availability, as well as outsourced artists and designers.·

Write, design, and implement email and social media campaigns to reach new communities important to St. Luke’s, driving event participation, class sign-ups, and supporting social initiatives beyond worship.·

Partner with event organizers to brand and market St. Luke’s events effectively, driving attendance and ensuring effective follow-up with participants.·

Manage projects efficiently, meeting timelines, quality expectations, and overall goals.·

Collect and develop captivating story ideas for use across all communication mediums, creating a content plan with input from the communications/creative design committee and staff.·

Craft compelling copy for website updates, presentations, and marketing materials.·

Maintain and update content on various platforms as needed.·

Perform other duties as assigned.General Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:·

Developing and managing the Communications/Creative Design (CCD) budget.·

Serving as a staff liaison to the Communications/Creative Design (CCD) Committee.·

Attending and actively participating in various meetings, including general and director staff meetings, worship planning sessions, CCD Committee gatherings, Church Council meetings, and any other meetings as required.·

Participating in District, Conference, and National Communications/Creative Design Conferences and workshops as approved by the Executive Director of Administration.·

Performing any other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor or Executive Director of Administration.General QualificationsThe Senior Director must have a strong foundation in basic Christian doctrine and openly profess faith in Jesus Christ. They are required to uphold St. Luke’s Core Values and adhere to church personnel policies outlined in the Employee Handbook. Familiarity and alignment with Wesleyan theology and United Methodist Church Polity and practice are essential. Additionally, the Senior Director must possess managerial skills to effectively oversee the church's communications needs. They should be dedicated to personal and professional development, willing to collaborate with other staff and ministry areas, and interact with the church's laity in a collegial manner.Education/Training/Experience/Strengths and Abilities·

Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, digital media, or equivalent experience required.·

5+ years of experience leading within a large church or non-profit organization.·

Proficiency in the following software and systems: Adobe Creative Suite, ProPresenter, Constant Contact, Microsoft Suite, WordPress with basic familiarity of HTML 5, CSS, experience in SEO, Google Analytics, Facebook Business Manager, etc. St. Luke’s also uses Realm as our CRM system.·

Familiarity with all major social media networks including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube.·

Knowledge of video production and podcast implementation.·

Experience in building, leading, motivating, and developing effective teams.·

Excellent communication skills; interpersonal, written, and verbal.·

The position requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends and/or evening work as needed.·
