This position is covered by the Partnership Agreement between the State of Colorado and Colorado Workers for Innovative and New Solutions (COWins).

New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

About this Work Unit The Communications Unit manages internal and external communications for the Colorado Department of Transportation, providing timely, accurate information regarding the organization, its initiatives, projects and progress to its external and internal audiences.

About this Position This position is part of a two-person team and serves as the lead of the team to drive communications that engage and align CDOT external and internal communications in CDOT Region 3, by working with the Regional Communications Team Lead to develop and implement an effective strategic regional communications program strategy and accompanying work plans. The position reports to directly to the Regional Communications Team Lead, under the Deputy Director of Communications for Regions, Projects and Incidents and the Director of Communications.

Position will closely collaborate with leaders across CDOT to contribute to the achievement of CDOT s objectives and leading various regional communications initiatives as they align with organizational priorities overall project communications, maximizing regional employee engagement, coordination with regional maintenance and how to address consistent standards of communication across regions, coordination with safety communications across regions, crisis communications and incident management, regional planning and communications including strategic planning, team and consultant management, budgeting and overall execution.

Position will manage all communications for Region 3, including strategic planning, implementation of tools and activities and directing the work of the many consultants who support our communications efforts.

The position In general. This position is also The position also provides support to regional customer services representatives and for the HQ Governor s liaison. To best execute these responsibilities, this position is located in the region, with travel to HQ as needed.

Major Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Manages annual regional communications strategic planning, as well as internal communications within the region; Plans, develops and implements timely and accurate information to internal and external audiences, consult with staff as appropriate to evelop communications strategies; Serve as the staff expert, and act as a spokesperson for regional transportation issues and statewide issues as necessary; Produces internal/external communications tools such as regional newsletters, presentations, event coordination, scripts, speaking points, news releases, construction communications plans, etc; Responsible for managing communications consultants and providing strategic direction and oversight into tactical implementation for specific project communications; Provides support to regional customer services representatives and for the HQ Governor s liaison; Ensures that regional communications initiatives align with organizational priorities across CDOT, addressing and ensuring consistent standards of communication across regions including safety and crisis communications, by closely collaborating with area leaders and maximizing regional employee engagement; Coordinates with regions on communications strategic planning, team and
