Overview

Curiosity is seeking a seasoned, collaborative, and creative Director of Communications Planning, who is eager to take the next step in their planning career. The ideal candidate will bring with them a well-developed strategic toolkit, research rigor, killer comms + media planning chops, as well as creative intuition for bringing big ideas to life across key touchpoints in the consumer journey. This person will be the voice of reason to inform client choices with their experienced and expertly honed people and client management skills.This is a vital role for our agency, as this person will bring strategic insight and inspiration to our creative and media teams, and encourage them to think differently about how channels can work to enhance our work. This role will partner with Curiosity leaders across Client Partnership, Creative, Media and Production teams, and will be involved right from research, to strategic ideation, all the way through cross-funnel messaging framework and implementation. Likely, you'll be asked to serve as a strategic lead across other integrated partner agencies, too.This person reports into the VP of Strategy with direct responsibility for a key client's business or portfolio.How Will I Know?

You've got 10-12 years of experience as a comms planner on the agency side, or on a client-side marketing team and have a portfolio that demonstrates your mastery of brand and comms planning chops.A significant portion of your career has been spent within an agency environment (required), preferably working on retail clients' business (preferred).You get how communications planning and media works, and can comfortably speak strategy, creative, and media to understand how we connect our ideas and messages with our clients' target audiences.You have personally led projects that bring comms planning to life for the agency, and can show us how media can be used creatively to give ideas an extra dimension.You can inspire the creative teams to think differently about how channels can enhance and amplify their ideas and creative work.You have expert-level fluency in key strategic skills, like: brand strategy and planning, creative strategy, social strategy, and content & digital strategy.You pride yourself on being a great storyteller, presenter, facilitator, moderator and synthesizer and enjoy mentoring others on these skills as well.You've fostered strong client relationships and demonstrated an innate ability to understand the complexities of your clients' businesses-so much so that you've got former senior (VP-level or higher) marketing clients willing to sing your praises.Ambiguity or complexity doesn't scare you; you've got a strong entrepreneurial ability to be resourceful, effective, and efficient at gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing information that informs key decisions.You've proven yourself to be a trusted, effective, and imaginative leader; you've managed team members directly and inspired them to achieve their best work.

What You'll Do:

Provide strategic consultation and leadership for the Curiosity Strategy offering to key clients' portfolio, including developing processes for research, insights, and strategy that will inform the development of a clear, compelling, and comprehensive communications plan and framework for their marketing initiatives.Develop relationship and serve as a virtual extension of their marketing teams; more importantly, be the strategic concierge that our client and internal partners seek out counsel or want to bounce an idea off of-in this role, our expectation is that you'll quickly become the de facto strategic consultant to our clients' senior marketing leadership team.Partner with the VP of Strategy, Creative, and Media to help evolve the overall strategic offering for Curiosity and expand our toolkits, IMC process, and especially our comms planning deliverables.Partner with our Client Partnership, Media, and Creative leaders to not only effectively service client needs, but to also galvanize organic growth, and to pitch and win new business with a high win-rate.Fluidly partner with our Creative team leaders to inspire, rationalize, validate and champion creativity and business moving ideas that impact culture.Manage one or more junior strategists and/or comms planners directly, taking ownership for the overall quality of strategic planning across your portfolio; providing mentorship and day-to-day management; and taking responsibility for their ongoing career planning, goal setting, and performance assessment.Champion Curiosity's role and strategic leadership beyond traditional client marketing relationships to help expand our presence and role deeper into the organization-potentially across insights, innovation, media, and analytics.Other duties as assigned.
