The position is being recruited for the Governor's Office of Service and Community Engagement.

The Governor's Office of Service and Community Engagement (GO-Serve) seeks to fill one permanent full-time Information Officer II within the California Volunteers, Office of Governor (CV) program.

Under the general direction of the California Volunteers Communications Director, the Communications Manager (Information Officer II) is responsible for executing day-to-day marketing, external communications, and outreach tasks. A significant portion of responsibilities will be managing the California Volunteers email program. The Communications Manager is responsible for operating in a lead capacity at the professional and technical public relations level, exercising creativity, innovation, vision and to assist with amplifying California Volunteers' visibility.

This position is eligible for telework in accordance with the GO-Serve Telework Policy.

Working ConditionsThe positions at GO-Serve may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the GO-Serve Telework Policy and/or future program need.

All GO-Serve employees must reside in California upon appointment.

The Governor's Office of Service and Community Engagement (GO-Serve) elevates paid service and volunteerism in the state, promotes more youth and community engagement, and advances public awareness and outreach campaigns to tackle the state's most pressing challenges. Go-Serve consists of the Office of Community Partnerships and Strategic Communications (OCPSC), California Volunteers (CV), and the Youth Empowerment Commission (YEC).

California Volunteers, Office of the Govenor, engages Californians in service, volunteering and civic action to tackle our State's most pressing challenges while mobilizing all Californians to volunteer and serve in their communities. Californians For All was launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to build on the efforts of California Volunteers to establish a statewide volunteer corps to help with the state's response to emergencies and disasters. California Volunteers also administers the AmeriCorps programs in California with over 80 programs providing critical services to more than 160,000 Californians annually.
