Summary

SHRM is seeking a Senior SEO Specialist to join our high-performing SEO team in our Alexandria, VA office. As a pivotal member of the team, you will plan, implement, and manage the Organic Search strategy to enhance SHRM’s digital presence and user engagement. Your expertise in SEO and content strategy will drive traffic growth, support new initiatives, and solidify our position online.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive SEO strategy to maximize website performance, improve rankings, and drive online revenue.

Conduct in-depth analysis of search engine data to develop strategic plans that align with business objectives. Analyze and leverage data to provide insights and identify new opportunities for growth.

Develop and maintain detailed reports on SEO performance, providing actionable insights to stakeholders, use visualization tools to present data.

Conduct competitor analysis to identify gaps and opportunities, informing strategic adjustments.

Collaborate with internal teams across Marketing, Business Intelligence, Product Management and IT as well as external partners to achieve business goals.

Optimize SHRM’s website for technical, on-page, and off-page SEO to enhance site visibility in search engines.

Provide guidance and recommendations on e-commerce projects, content, and marketing initiatives impacting the SEO program.

Stay abreast of industry trends, search algorithm updates, and emerging opportunities (e.g., AI) to inform and adjust the SEO strategy.

Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, data science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum of four years of hands-on SEO experience with a proven track record of success in driving traffic growth.

Certifications

Professionals SEO certifications preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Expertise in keyword research and the ability to identify high-value keywords to drive targeted traffic. Able to execute competitive analysis and benchmark performance against industry leaders. Understanding of advanced link-building techniques and strategies.

Advanced knowledge of technical, on-page, and off-page SEO, including search engine algorithms and ranking factors.

Proficiency with SEO and analytics tools such as Adobe Customer Journey Analytics, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, and Screaming Frog.

Strong strategic and analytical skills, ability to draw conclusions from data, and make impactful recommendations.

Exceptional communication skills with the ability to track and report SEO performance and progress to senior leaders and internal stakeholders.

A customer-first mindset, prioritizing user experience above all else.

Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines. Experience with agile methodologies and working within agile frameworks.

Experience with international SEO, including optimizing for different languages and regions.

Comprehensive understanding of link-building strategies and the ability to drive authoritative backlinks.

Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as it pertains to SEO.

Knowledge of web performance optimization and site speed improvement tactics.

Expertise in leveraging AI tools and collaborating with AI-driven technologies to enhance SEO outcomes.

Experience with content management systems (CMS) and optimizing content for SEO. Adobe Experience Manager and Adobe e-commerce platform preferred.

The hiring range for this position is $83,000 to $95,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. SHRM offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package.
