Job Summary:To design, develop, and utilize Geographic Information Systems and GIS techniques to support University GIS activities to include spatial analysis.

Education & Experience

Master's degree in GIS, Geography or related field, or Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography or related field with two years of related experience.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of GIS principles, techniques, and tools. Knowledge of geographic, statistical, mathematical, and computer science theory, methodology, applications, and techniques. Ability to create products using ESRI suite of software. Computer programming, data analysis, and software development skills. Ability to provide technical leadership to subordinates.

Responsibilities

Performs complex, integrated computer programming, data analysis, and software development for GIS applications, to include maintenance of existing systems and research/development for future enhancements.Designs and carries out GIS procedures, both simple and complex; performs programming for data creation, analysis, project reporting, data conversion, data transfer, and graphic production.Writes reports of GIS activities, including methodology and equipment use.Compiles and integrates data from a wide variety of sources.Provides input and analysis for the development of geo-spatial tools and database schemes.Mentors GIS technicians in order to promote effective and efficient data provisioning and distribution practices and procedures.Performs other duties as assigned.
