Our internship program is designed for current students, recent graduates, and early-career or career-changing applicants.THE INTERNSHIPStoryCorps' Marketing & Communications (M&C) Department is a fast-paced, creative, and highly collaborative team that creates messaging and promotes StoryCorps' mission, content, programs, products, and services via digital and traditional channels. As the Marketing and Communications Intern, you will support the M&C team’s efforts in Marketing, Audience Engagement all our channels.Throughout the course of the internship, you can expect to become familiar with a wide variety of systems including MailChimp, WordPress, ZenDesk, SalesForce, and others. You will have the opportunity to join departmental meetings and learn how marketing messaging and campaigns are developed from idea to production. You will also be involved in key efforts around data collection and analysis that are crucial to informing the M&C team’s strategy.

This internship is an excellent opportunity to expand on research and analysis skills, to learn about writing copy and content creation, and to gain a comprehensive understanding of complex marketing campaigns.WHAT YOU’LL DOResearch & Strategy

Research ways in which we can optimize SEOResearch ways the organization can contribute to accessibility and how we can improve in our practiceResearch and execute best content strategy practices on popular social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, and ThreadsResearch and execute best practices for Facebook Reels and Instagram Reels

Copywriting & Email Marketing

Learn StoryCorps’ institutional writing style.Experiment with creative ways to adapt StoryCorps’ writing style to social media messagingWrite copy for content shared on StoryCorps’ Facebook, Instagram, X, and TikTok platforms.Support the build of the “StoryCorps in the Classroom” and “Story of the Week” Email Series, ensuring accessibility practices are incorporated.

Analytics

Support with the collection of bowling chart data.Support the build of the digital engagement report and building out dashboards for monthly reporting metrics.

Engagement/Community Management

Brainstorm creative campaigns that will increase audience engagement.Monitor online community engagement and audience behavior.Support with creating guidelines to build quality online engagement with StoryCorps’ audience.

Website & Programs

Support in building out and updating pages across StoryCorps’ website.Ensure alternate text is incorporated with all images associated on the website.Support in standardizing accessibility and design across the website.Coordinate marketing calendars that will support the efforts behind One Small Step, MVI, Mobile Tour, and Atlanta Booth.

Content Strategy & Accessibility

Support with managing the editorial content calendar.Identify opportunities to adapt the style of StoryCorps’ content to short-form, vertical format.Post to Instagram StoriesEnsure accessibility practices are incorporated in our website, YouTube, and email channels.

IN-OFFICE WORK:

Working at the StoryCorps office is optional except in certain circumstances, such as in-person training, if your position requires some in-office presence, or if your manager needs an in-person individual or team meeting, COVID guidelines permitting. For those who prefer to work in the office, that option remains.

All offers of employment requiring on-site/in-person work will be contingent on the candidate being Fully Vaccinated (at least two-weeks after last dose) prior to starting their new role.
