This position also works collaboratively with the Health Center at Auraria, the Student and Community Counseling Center, The Phoenix Center at Auraria, Student Life, Student Conduct and Community Standards, and other Campus Constituents. The Health Promotion and Engagement Coordinator is responsible for mobilizing, creating and sustaining inclusive campus-wide health promotion and engagement practices to create an environment that supports the personal wellness and inclusion of a diverse group of students, faculty and staff at CU Denver. They will work to prevent high-risk behaviors within a holistic model of wellness, and engage and empower students to make healthy lifestyle choices.This position is responsible for creating and supporting a culture of wellness and active engagement on the CU Denver Campus. They will collaborate with professional staff within Wellness & Recreation Services and throughout campus. They will also establish and supervise the Peer Health Education Program and the operations of the wellness suite within the Lola & Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center. This position will schedule and supervise student associates of the wellness suite.**Coordinator of Health Promotion & Engagement****What you will do:**+ Create and maintain relationships with units across campus to promote student involvement and engagement.+ Organize and facilitate student engagement activities for health promotions across campus and within the Lola & Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center+ Organize and participate in educational outreach and wellness and recreation promotion and tabling throughout all areas of campus to include Student Support and Academic Services and external partners+ Represent the university to the local community through maintaining partnerships with local and state constituents+ Hire, train, advise, and supervise student program managers and peer educators+ Develop and measure the learning outcomes for educational outreach programs+ Collaborate with the Student Conduct and Community Standards office to develop and lead sanctioned alcohol and cannabis class to students in violation of the Student Code of Conduct+ Review, develop and manage program budget in accordance with AD+ Oversee the Swipe Out Hunger program through application review, meal swipe coordinator, and review of the shared inbox.+ Work with the Marketing & Memberships Coordinator to create and distribute print- and web-based educational resources on health promotion and wellness.+ Assist campus resources in conducting the National College Health Assessment every two years, compiling the results, and presenting the data to the university community+ Compile and maintain data for the Biennial Report for the Department of Higher Education on substance free school zones, as part of a comprehensive campus-wide prevention as directed+ Assist in managing Wellness Suite operations to include:+ Wellness Center education schedule and administration+ Food pantry+ Nap Room+ Be sure students are in compliance with the risk management and certification trainings required of student employees.+ Work with Institutional partners to certify Wellness Associates as Certified Peer Educators (CPE)+ Maintain Civil Rights Training and Food Safety Training Certificates through the Food Bank of the Rockies**Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)**+ Bachelor's Degree in health education/ health promotion, community/public health, exercise science, psychology or a related field or master's level coursework in the health education field+ One year experience in student development, education or training related to wellness.+ CPR/AED Certification, or able to receive one within 30 days of hire.**Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)**+ Master's degree in student affairs, health education/health promotion, public health, or other health-related field; or pursuit of Master's degree in student affairs, education, health promotion or other health, wellness or sports-related field+ CHES Certification and/or MSW+ Minimum of one year in substance misuse or public health education, experience or completed training+ Experience in a higher education setting+ Experience leading campus/community groups or coalitions+ Experience working with peer educators/wellness educators**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**+ Strong commitment to working with diverse student populations+ Strong work ethic+ Able to consult and collaborate with other campus constituents+ Able to assess high-risk situations and apply critical thinking skills+ Excellent interpersonal skills including both oral and written communication+ Excellent written and oral communication skills+ Demonstrated communication skills that contribute to effective collaboration with students, faculty, and staff+ Ability to identify the learning needs of the college student population and develop educational materials that are relevant to support learning outcomes in that identified population+ Knowledge of learning methods of college populations+ Knowledge of health education and/or promotion+ Knowledge of health psychology and behavior change+ Knowledge of data collection, analysis, and program evaluation+ Ability to hire, schedule, evaluation and manage student staff+ Ability to work in a collaborative, integrated wellness and recreation work environment+ Knowledge, or willingness to learn, and work in all areas of wellness and recreation**Conditions of Employment**+ Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required.As of 7/1/2023, The University of Colorado recommends employees be fully vaccinated from the COVID-19, but is not required.
