The Air Force NC3 Configuration Management (CM) team is seeking a Lead Engineer to guide the identification and verification of the technical configuration of the AF NC3 Weapon System (AN/USQ-225). The Lead Engineer manages high-level day-to-day operations as well as guides development, validation, and maintenance of platform configuration documentation in accordance with AF NC3 data management process and in association with the Architecture and Modeling Branch (AFNWC/NCW). This position requires experience interfacing with high-level personnel across commands, as it consistently interacts with Division Chiefs, Joint Staff, Air Force Global Strike Command, NAVWAR, NEC, DISA, and STRATCOM. Responsibilities: Interface with the AF NC3 Chief Engineer and Division System of Systems Lead Engineer. Interface with Air Force, Navy, DISA and Joint Staff organizations to research, analyze, and validate platform documentation for the AF NC3 Weapon System. Manage the AF NC3 Weapon System Configuration Management IAW MIL-HDBK-61, EIA-649, DoD, and AF guidance. Perform onsite technical surveys to document and audit communication capabilities of existing platforms and fixed sites in the AFN NC3 Weapon System. Participate in AF NC3 Weapon System Configuration Change Management processes including but not limited to the development of leadership information packages, presentation of concepts, and the development of briefings and supporting data packages that will aid senior leaders in decision making. Ensure sound engineering technical processes are implemented and exercised for the review of configuration change proposals and in the establishment and documentation of host and platform configuration baselines. Ability to understand complex technical concepts and technical information of communications systems across currently established AF NC3 airborne, fixed facilities, and mobile/transportable hosts/platforms. The ability to apply these concepts to document and maintain the AF NC3 Weapon System configuration. Utilize, review, contribute, and validate system configuration management data and information in product lifecycle management (PLM) systems supporting digital engineering ecosystems (DEE) for model-based systems engineering (MBSE). Prepare coordinated briefings and participate in Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), and Technical Review Boards (TRBs). Release approved documents for use within the enterprise IAW established procedures. HIGHLY DESIRED: Experience working on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a DoD governmental program performing all functional duties independently. Experience overseeing the efforts of staff assigned to a specific job, IPT or overall team effort. Candidates must be able to brief to top government leadership, have excellent written and verbal communication skill sets, and work well in a highly demanding environment. Desired background in system of systems engineering. Desired 2 years of configuration management related experience. Desired 2 years of experience in Air Force NC3 or related constituent systems. Desired experience with MATLAB, Visio, Cameo, and Siemens Teamcenter. A professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution is highly desired. Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they pertain to sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management principles, concepts, policies, and systems. 4. Knowledge of the principles of planning and program management; of standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and of other engineering disciplines used in support of sustainment, modification, and maintenance programs. 5. Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches; to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes; and to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, form conclusions, and devise and recommend solutions to problems.
