Job Description

Under direction, this is a Lead level classification. The class will be primarily supervisory in natureoverseeing the development and implementation of the City's Disability Accessibility and UserExperience units, and performs related duties as required.

This class is assigned to the Leadership Technology Job Family which consists of positionsresponsible for overseeing the identification, prioritization, and delivery of work activities, coachand developing employees, providing thought leadership to business partners, and shaping andexecuting the technology vision and strategy to maximize business values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIESManages and directs the work of Digital Accessibility Specialists and UX Designers engaged inensuring that persons with disabilities can access the City of Chicago digital information and resourcesFacilitates the design and development of engaging user experiences for a variety of applications, websites, and systemsCompletes performance appraisals for subordinate staff, administers disciplinary functions, and approves staff time off requestsSets goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational resultsAssures the practices and process of implementing federal, state, and local disability legislation to ensure people with disabilities will have an equal opportunity to participate and benefit from the City's web and digital contentEnsures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers, and stakeholdersStudies and evaluates how users feel about a system, looking at things like ease of use, perception of the value of the system, utility, efficiency in performing tasks, etc.Develops process flows, wireframes, and prototypes to effectively conceptualize and communicate high-level design strategiesAdditional duties may be required for this position
