Located on Olympia’s East Bay waterfront, the Hands On Children’s Museum is the leading play-based, early learning institution in Southwest Washington and the most visited children’s museum in the Pacific Northwest hosting 300,000 annually. Our award-winning education programs include camps, workshops, preschool, parenting classes, field trips, community outreach and family support programs.This full-time position reports to the Marketing & Strategic Communications Senior Manager and interfaces with senior management and all museum departments to deliver compelling and consistent branding for the Hands On Children’s Museum, its programs, and special events. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is able to juggle multiple projects while budgeting their time efficiently. This experienced and innovative thinker will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, editing, producing, and circulating Museum communications via print, web, and digital media. This on-site position has a core schedule of Monday-Friday and must be available to flex for occasional evening and weekend programs.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:Design and produce visual promotional materials such as flyers, posters, banners, ads, brochures, logos, signage, display materials, and email marketing for all Museum activities and programs often on tight deadlines.Work collaboratively with museum directors and managers on creative direction and campaign concepts.Ensure excellent project management to coordinate up to 10+ projects simultaneously.Communicate deadlines and report production status/challenges to appropriate departments.Assist coordinating with vendors and the management of the production and distribution process including bids, packaging files, placing orders, and delivery instructions.Knowledgeable about current design and production methods, procedures, and trends.Ensure that all communications are consistent with the Museum’s brand and graphic standards.Manage graphic design and photo library.Write and distribute email marketing communications.Assist on web-based projects.Requirements:BA in Graphic Design or related area, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.Three to five years of relevant work experience creating graphic and design solutions across all print and digital media.Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience working in Wordpress, Canva, Constant Contact or similar email platform, and Flikr preferred.Quality portfolio demonstrating experience in digital media design, photo editing, and illustration.Nonprofit experience strongly desired.Must be willing to occasionally work evenings and weekends around major museum events.Ability to track numerous projects simultaneously.Possess a professional approach to time, budget, and deadlines.Build files based on specifications.Adaptable, flexible, and can work under pressure and tight deadlines.Excellent problem-solving & decision-making skills.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Demonstrated ability to work solo and as part of a project team.Workplace Values:Achieving our mission requires great people who actively demonstrate our core values.Application Instructions:
