The Media Specialist is responsible for assisting and supporting the faculty, staff, and students in the use of digital and multimedia equipment, providing Audio/Visual technology support for campus events, and supporting the Academic Media Center (AMC). The position serves as the primary support to systems that aid in teaching, learning, and event production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assists faculty, students, and staff in production of digital media content and material along with video, audio, graphic design, and digital presentations.Completes client support requests at the AMC (creative projects, tasks, documents, and special event production); produces and completes assigned media production projects.Provides guidance, setup, and assistance to university special events needing audio enhancements, presentations, recordings, and/or video livestreams.Partners with academic programs and university offices to promote media and creative projects and initiatives.Trains AMC student media assistants to setup and use AV equipment, record video, edit video/audio, and produce media for university events and approved media production projects.Trains AMC student media assistants in production software and equipment, including pre-production, production, and post-production of video programs.Provides coaching and mentoring to AMC student media assistants.Delivers workshops and training to faculty, students, and staff to support the creation of innovative media projects.Assists the department with media equipment reservations, checkouts, and returns.Consolidates, manages, and maintains all media equipment using the department's equipment checkout platform.Assists the department with coordinating reservations and scheduling the use of the studio and other production spaces.Assists customers using the AMC open lab and production spaces.Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of the software, hardware, and appearance of the media center facilities, including the video studio, video equipment, editing bays, and open lab computers.Provides recommendations for equipment purchases necessary for the completion of projects.Edits and distributes client video-based media projects for viewing through Kaltura, Canvas, or other university platforms.Completes large format printing and lamination projects and assists with other services.Handles the intake of any client payments related to the AMC services.Prepares weekly, monthly, and annual reports as requested on client and operational projects, activities, time-on-tasks, and accomplishments.Creates, suggests, and maintains "how-to" operational instructions relating to equipment, software, and creative media spaces.Assists in the promotion of services, equipment, software, and creative media spaces of the AMC.Participates in departmental projects, assignments, and events; follows department procedures.Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:Associate's degree from an accredited college or high school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years of work experience in technical support, audio/visual setup support, or related experience; bachelor's degree preferred.Experience with or a strong aptitude for working with media, video, graphic design, or digital presentations is highly encouraged to apply.Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.Must have the ability to demonstrate intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office/Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and experience with virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom and Teams Meetings.Must have the ability to use various software applications, such as spreadsheets and an assortment of databases to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports. Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and other new software and media platforms related to video, audio, graphic design, digital presentations, and media production.Must be able to work with both PC and MAC operating systems.Must keep up to date with new digital media, instructional and presentational technologies, computer technology, and other job-related skills.Must have proficiency in English and spelling, accurate typing with word processor, and ability to operate computer hardware and software.Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong public relations and customer service skills with an ability to implement diplomacy and discretion at all times; an ability to work effectively with communities across the university. Must be comfortable speaking in front of a group to provide training and workshops.Must have high ethical standards and a strong sense of confidentiality; ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines; thrive in a complex work environment; displays solid problem-solving and interpersonal skills; works well independently and as part of a team.Must have strong self-judgment abilities to assist in the preparation of department personnel policy information. Use discretion to complete work assignments. Initiative is frequently required to complete work assignments.Must have a high attention to detail and be able to organize workflow, coordinate activities, balance simultaneous projects without loss of efficiency in a multi-tasked environment and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek to accommodate university events and projects.Experience in computer troubleshooting including analog and digital audio, video, and projection equipment setup for conferences, presentations, broadcast, and unique events is preferred.Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish with the ability to understand and to make one's self understood to Spanish speaking individuals).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Working conditions are in an office environment and university campus setting. Must be able to move across the university campus to conduct day-to-day business.While performing this role, the employee will be regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; and occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.Frequently communicates with others using approved technological resources; must be able to exchange accurate information through designated systems within a timely manner.Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
