Greenberg Traurig, a global law firm, currently has an excellent opportunity for a Marketing and Communications Specialist in either our Ft. Lauderdale, New Jersey, or Chicago office. We offer competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package.Position SummaryThe candidate must be a self-starter who is flexible, dedicated, client-service oriented, resourceful, collaborative, and who is able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Marketing and Communications Specialist will work under the direction and guidance of the Marketing and Communications Manager to help implement communications strategies that reflect the firm’s brand and positioning and achieves strategic, proactive media coverage in support of key business goals with a primary focus on the Litigation Practice. This candidate must be a strong writer with a client service orientation, strong attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines, while remaining calm under pressure.Duties & ResponsibilitiesWorks hand in hand with the Director of Marketing, Marketing and Communications Manager, and practice leaders to create a proactive communications program that supports the firm’s strategic objectives and aligns with global practice objectivesExecutes on story/content priorities designed to build thought leadership including media placements, bylined articles, newsletters, alerts, speaking engagements, and other targeted effortsCreates and repurposes content for external communications on various platforms, including interviewing attorneys and writing bylined contentWrites and edits press releases, internal communications and other marketing collateralResearches, writes, and edits awards nominations, as well as maintaining calendar of upcoming Litigation submissionsReviews and edits Litigation Practice newslettersWrites and edits collateral as needed for handouts, the firm’s Internet, presentations, white papers, etc.Develops relationships with attorneys and helps them to identify media opportunitiesProvides media relations support, including pitching and monitoring interviews and prepping attorneys with talking pointsProvides social media support, including drafting targeted posts and assisting with attorney trainingCollaborates with marketing and other business professionals throughout the firm across functions and teamsOther responsibilities as neededSkills & CompetenciesA self-starter and team player, able to accept direction, yet work independentlyAbility to synthesize complex information into a compelling narrative for media, client or firm useExcellent prioritization and time management skillsCandidates must have outstanding communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to communicate effectively with attorneys and professionals at all levelsFlexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environmentStrong client-first work ethicMust be attentive to detail, work well under pressure, and have the ability to manage simultaneous and tight deadlinesPreferred candidates will have excellent writing/copyediting skills, including specialized experience in business and/or legal writingAdvanced knowledge and familiarity with The AP Style Guide, as well as the rules of English grammar and style are requiredQualifications & Prior Experience:Bachelor’s degree requiredExperience as a business/legal journalist preferred. Ideal candidate will have 8-10 years professional experience as either a business or legal writer or producing content for the legal or professional services industriesHigh level of proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)Writing portfolio that demonstrates experience translating complex topics into compelling copyStrong understanding of the news media and existing media relationshipsGreenberg Traurig is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
