Visual Communications Designer

(Marketing Specialist - Senior) position with the Office of the Secretary.

Where We're Located:

The Prairie Oaks State Office Building is situated on Madison's southeast side. We are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail and service locations.

Telecommuting Option:

This position may have the ability to telecommute. An approved telecommuting agreement is required before an employee may telecommute. Approval of the employee's telecommuting agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the department. All DATCP employees who telecommute are required to live in Wisconsin.

Position Summary

Under direction and general supervision of the Communications Director, this position serves as the agency lead in visual communications design. The position will develop a set of branding and creative direction standards for all multimedia projects and work with the agency's divisions to build understanding and capacity in using those elements to create effective communication materials. The position will develop and manage a video production process, completing creative design, planning, capture, and editing of video work. The position will also manage production of digital materials, and work in collaboration with the forms management staff to ensure compliance for all print materials. Finally, this position will serve as the lead for the agency in the development and provision of user-design and user-interface support for all multimedia, with a focus on ensuring compliance with accessibility requirements through training and support of staff in divisions across the agency.

Marketing Specialist - Sr Full Position Description

Salary Information

The classification of this position is Marketing Specialist-Senior, which is in schedule-range 7-03 with a starting pay of $36.00 per hour up to $40.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. Pay on appointment may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the compensation plan. Pay for current State employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period is required.

DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:

• Experience with communications or graphic design, which may be demonstrated by work experience or an earned bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field

• Experience designing and producing high-leverage communications materials, including presentations, conference materials, brochures, annual reports, videos, photos, etc. which communicate department programs and policies to stakeholders.

• Experience managing the video production process, including the design and planning of a video, capturing of live subjects or animation of graphics, and editing of the final production.

• Experience providing photography to an agency, organization, or business.

In addition, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:

• Experience developing and maintaining a set of branding and marketing guidelines for an agency or organization to use in all communications and across all formats.

• Experience maintaining the overall UX and user-interface (UI) design of an agency or business website, intranet site, and other agency-hosted sites, identifying appropriate fonts, icons, banners, graphics, images, photography, video, and web-items in collaboration with the communications director.

• Experience using a variety of communication tools, developing materials to assist stakeholders in understanding the initiatives and other high-stakes implementation efforts with a focus on ensuring consistent messaging.
