The focus across the broader program includes IT transformation, leveraging subject matter experts to transform business processes, requirements development, change management and human-centered design, among other IT modernization programmatic activities. The Strategic Communications Team Lead plays a critical role in our major federal S/4HANA implementation program. This position requires a seasoned communications professional with at least 6 years of experience in developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies within a federal context. The Strategic Communications Team Lead will be responsible for creating and delivering clear, concise, and impactful communications across multiple platforms, including written communications, briefings, social media, and marketing materials. This role involves coordinating communications with key stakeholders at all levels, from senior leadership to mid and lower-level leadership, ensuring that the program’s objectives and progress are effectively communicated and understood.

Responsibilities :

Lead and manage a remote team of no more than 5 skilled professionals.

Interview and hire candidates to fill open positions within the team.

Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, ensuring clear communication and efficient workflow in a remote environment.

Communications Strategy Development:

Develop and implement a robust communications strategy for the S/4HANA implementation program, tailored to a federal audience to include embedding results of audience analysis.

Ensure all communications are aligned with the program’s objectives and resonate with various stakeholder groups.

Stay abreast of the latest methodologies and best practices in strategic communications and change management to drive acceptance and engagement.

Development and implementation of measurement and evaluation to include metrics and analytics to assess the effectiveness of communications strategies and make data driven improvements.

Content Creation and Management:

Development of content development strategy and provide frequent updates (e.g., monthly) to leadership.

Oversee the creation of high-quality written communications, including reports, briefings, newsletters, and other program documentation.

Develop social media content and manage the program’s online presence, ensuring consistent messaging and branding.

Coordinate with functional and technical subject matter experts to generate accurate and relevant content that supports program objectives.

Stakeholder Communications Coordination:

Serve as the primary point of contact for all communications related to the S/4HANA implementation, ensuring consistent messaging across all levels of leadership.

Coordinate key stakeholder communications, including senior leadership briefings, mid-level management updates, and communications to broader stakeholder groups.

Ensure that communications are delivered in a timely manner and that stakeholders are kept informed of program milestones, challenges, and successes.

Leadership Communication:

Deliver the communications strategy and key messages to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with overall program goals.

Provide guidance and support to mid and lower-level leadership in their communications efforts, ensuring that messages are effectively cascaded throughout the organization.

Agile Communication Management:

Utilize agile methodologies, specifically the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), to manage communications in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.

Adapt communications strategies as needed to respond to changes in the program’s direction or priorities, ensuring that messaging remains relevant and effective.

Requirements :

Active Secret security clearance.

BA/BS degree in related field.

At least 3 years of experience in strategic communications, with a focus on federal programs; knowledge of federal government operations and communication protocols is essential.

Proven track record in developing and executing communication strategies that drive stakeholder engagement and program success.

Experience coordinating communications efforts in large-scale IT implementation programs, preferably involving SAP S/4HANA.

Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and compelling content for diverse audiences.

Proficiency in using social media platforms and tools to enhance program visibility and stakeholder engagement.

Ability to manage content development processes involving multiple contributors and subject matter experts.

Familiarity with agile development methodologies, particularly the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), and the ability to manage communications within an agile context.

Ability to adapt communication strategies to support the dynamic nature of agile program management.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Experience in delivering high-stakes presentations and briefings to senior leadership.

Must be highly organized, proactive, and capable of driving results in a complex, fast-paced environment.

This project is primarily remote; applicants local to the National Capital Region will have access to clients in the region.

Strong understanding of change management principles and their application in large-scale IT programs.
