Position Summary:

The Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for leading the strategic direction and execution of all marketing, communications, and public relations activities for our non-profit organization. This role involves collaborating with NSBE Board Members, internal and external stakeholders to enhance the organization's brand, engage diverse audiences, and drive awareness and support for our mission. The Director will manage both people and processes, ensuring effective and consistent messaging across all platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership:

Develop and implement a cohesive marketing and communications strategy aligned with the organization’s mission and goals. Provide strategic direction for all marketing activities and campaigns.Brand Management:

Oversee the organization’s brand, including trademarks, logo usage approval, and licensing. Ensure consistent messaging and visual identity across all platforms and materials.Campaign Management:

Plan, execute, and evaluate marketing campaigns, including digital, print, and event-based initiatives. Ensure campaigns are targeted, measurable, and effective.Content Creation:

Lead the creation of high-quality content for various channels, including the website, social media, email newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials.Digital Marketing:

Manage the organization’s digital presence, including website, social media, and email marketing. Implement strategies to grow and engage online audiences.Public Relations:

Build and maintain relationships with media, influencers, and key stakeholders. Develop and distribute press releases and other communications to promote the organization’s work.Crisis Communication:

Develop and manage crisis communication strategies to handle any potential issues effectively.Fundraising Support:

Collaborate with the development team to create marketing materials and campaigns that support fundraising efforts, including donor communications and event promotions.Team Leadership:

Lead, mentor, and develop the marketing team. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.Market Research:

Conduct market research to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices. Use data and insights to inform marketing strategies and improve outcomes.Budget Management:

Develop and manage the marketing and communications budget. Ensure resources are allocated effectively and projects are delivered within budget.Performance Metrics:

Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for all marketing and communications activities. Analyze and report on the effectiveness of strategies and campaigns.Stakeholder Collaboration:

Strategize and collaborate with the Directors of Programs, Operations, and Fund Development, along with other Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Leadership Team (LT) members.Process Management:

Create, implement, and manage standard procedures and policies for marketing and communications operations. Ensure compliance by all team members.Project Management: Oversee special projects, vendor management and operations in support of the local, regional and national marketing efforts.Advocacy and Social Marketing:

Promote STEM equity and advocate for social justice through strategic marketing initiatives.Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.Minimum of 8 years of marketing experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.Demonstrated success managing end-to-end marketing campaigns (digital, conventions and events, email, direct mail, etc.).Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media, and content marketing.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to think creatively and strategically.Experience managing budgets and working with external vendors and partners.Strong leadership and team management skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Passion for the organization’s mission and values.Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Access) and project management software.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain internal and external relationships.Excellent time management and organizational skills.Self-motivated with a passion for advancing the organization and its mission.Comfort and confidence working under pressure of deadlines and managing multiple priorities.Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

TRAVEL:

Travel is required for the Annual National Convention, Fall Regional Conferences, National Transition and Leadership Conferences. Occasional travel to other conferences, chapters, and other industry- related events may be required and assigned by management.
