Job Description

Job OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Communications Manager to lead regulatory and legal PR programs and media relations. This role requires a proactive PR expert skilled at crafting strategic messages and building strong media relationships to communicate the company's story to regulatory and legal audiences. You have the creativity to build unique storytelling opportunities that help tell our story with policymakers and thought leaders in DC and at the state/local levels. You are a world-class media relations pro who can land coverage in key media including Beltway, tech policy, wireless, technology and consumer technology, as well as regional and local outlets. This role requires a deep understanding of regulatory and legal processes, the intersection between technology and geopolitical issues and the media landscape that influences national and state legislators (you know what they want to know). You will manage communications for high-stakes issues and when needed, pinch hit on a wide variety of projects and topics.

Responsibilities include developing and driving rock-solid PR proactive and reactive plans, setting media strategies, identifying storytelling opportunities, using different channels, supporting legal and regulatory issues and challenges, pitching media, placing stories and delivering measurable results. The candidate should be an effective collaborator, partner-driven to build relationships and able to connect dots delivering high-quality work. Additionally, the role involves anticipating, mitigating and responding to issues, driving research, making aligned recommendations and executing. You are nimble and able to shift on a dime. This includes being OK answering your phone in the middle of the night (you know why it's important) and are unfazed when your to-do list changes. The successful candidate will see T-Mobile's "big picture," think strategically, advance our corporate and government affairs narrative, manage interactions across multiple teams in different locations, focus on priorities and push back when needed.

The position is based either in our Bellevue, WA headquarters or Washington, DC office.

Qualific at ions:Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of experience in communications, ideally in a dynamic corporate PR team or PR/marketing agency, handling both proactive and crisis communications.Strong existing media relationships, particularly within Beltway and top-tier tech/wireless sectors, with a proven track record in media engagement and a keen interest in current news and media trends.Deep understanding of consumer and wireless technology, or ability to learn quickly, and experience in the D.C. environment familiar with legal, government affairs and industry processes.Experienced in working closely with senior leaders to define strategies, develop plans and achieve measurable results, using data and insights to drive the company's narrative to targeted audiences.Expert in multi-platform communication across various channels, with a deep understanding of the evolving media/social media landscape, and skilled in simplifying complex issues and finding opportunities in challenging situations.A proven track record of delivering with a bias for action in a rapid response environment.Excellent organizational and communication skills, adept at storytelling and proficient in partnering across company teams.Skilled in simplifying complex issues and finding opportunities in challenging situations.Personal Characteristics

Base Pay Range: $88,900 - $160,400

Corporate Bonus Target: 15%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.

Job Responsibilities:

Drive communication planning and strategy by actively participating in planning discussions across multiple lines of business and with legal and GA teams in alignment with company priorities.Recommend, develop and orchestrate communications strategies and tactics.Collaborate with communications, brand values, government affairs and external relations teams to align on priorities, craft communication strategies and implement plans to secure earned media coverage.Create, lead and execute thought leadership campaigns for our Government Affairs leadership.Collaborate with social media, marketing, network, technology and other teams.Constantly generate fresh ideas to build stories that generate positive perceptions towards T-Mobile with campaigns, messaging, press releases, fact sheets, op-eds, talking points, leave behinds, social and more.Leverage a broad range of communication channels.Proactively identify and leverage trends and newsjack what's coming; modify narratives as needed.Develop and maintain regional and national media relationships inside the Beltway and with various segment audiences.Proactively communicate T-Mobile news and trends to secure media coverage in the Beltway, tech policy, wireless, national, local and beyond.Monitor media and regulatory landscapes in the Beltway, providing updates on trends and issues to partners and corp comm team.Enhance visibility of senior leadership in the DC market and beyond.Educate and advise internal partners on communications strategy and tactics.Gather insights and objectives to make recommendations, facilitate decisions and ensure alignment.Proactively advance and protect T-Mobile's reputation by identifying and addressing potential issues.Lead issues management, advance planning and scenario mapping to prepare response strategies and materials for potential issues, including legal, policy and regulatory matters and challenges.Manage crisis communication, including monitoring, strategizing responses and conducting post-event analysis, using trendspotting and data to preemptively address issues.Make recommendations for issues (short and long term) that put T-Mobile in the best light aligning to both business and communication priorities. Partner across teams, take input and push back where needed.Jump in on other topics and projects when the team needs you.Implement new tools and best practices to improve processes.Set and achieve goals, track critical metrics and manage budgets.Be flexible to take on additional projects as needed and participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours issues.Work from the office a minimum of three days a week and travel regularly to headquarters or the DC office (1-2 times per month).
