Communications Specialist
to join a Business Improvement District located in Hampton, VA. The
Communications Specialist
is responsible for engaging in outreach and public information campaigns using various methods, as well as recording and disturbing accurate minutes from Board and Committee Meetings. This role will involve managing and promoting events on all social media channels including the company's website, Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, etc. The
Communications Specialist
will report to the Executive Director, as well as the Deputy serving on Board and Committee Meetings. This will involve documenting and sharing minutes from Board meetings, overseeing website updates, and promoting a positive image through press releases and member communications will also coordinate events, attend professional development sessions, and perform related tasks as needed.
Required Skills and Experience:5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, graphic design or relatedExperience managing and posting campaigns on all forms of social media such as such as Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, etc.Proficiency in Canva, Microsoft Suite, desktop publishing, database, and website applicationsInitiative and ability to work with minimal supervision with a high degree of accuracy and motivationAbility to multi-task and work well as part of a teamStrong written and verbal skillsOrganizational and strategic planning skills
Nice to Have Skills:Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field preferredFamiliarity with Visity or similar QR check-in applications
The compensation for this position is up to $23/hr.
