Merchants Bank has an opening for a Vice President/Director of Marketing. This on-site position can work from any Merchants Bank location in MN or WI with the expectation of working in the Winona, MN office 30% of the time.

This is a strategic position that has responsibilities for the vision and oversight of the overall marketing program and brand for Merchants Bank. This person will be an effective partner with the Executive Team and all business units of the organization. Responsible for the oversight of media, branding, and advertising within regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for being the primary contact for public relations and media contacts and will direct outside contacts to Bank Presidents as appropriate. Will be responsible for vendor management of all marketing department third party vendors.General Summary:This is a strategic position with general inter-related responsibilities for vision and oversight of the overall marketing program for Merchants Bank. The person in this position will have high-level authority and oversight of the Bank’s marketing/advertising/public relations program and be responsible for developing programs of support for sales personnel of the Bank. This position is responsible for being the primary contact for public relations and media contacts and will direct outside contacts to Bank Presidents as appropriate. As Director of Marketing, the person in this position is responsible for the continued development of the Merchants Brand throughout the service area of the Company.The position requires a high degree of analytic skill, as it relates to competitive positioning of products, their impact on profitability for the organization, and identifying opportunities to increase sales and profitability via attracting, expanding and retaining customer relationships by leveraging business intelligence resources (MCIF and subscription services available to aid in identifying sales lead opportunities). At the direction of Executive Management, the person in this position will assist in the product development process within the company, primarily in the direction of market efforts required to support product-related initiatives. The person in this position will have primary responsibility for database marketing initiatives and report-writing.Education & Experience

Skills and Abilities Required:Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, related fieldMinimum of 10 years of experience in a marketing leadership capacityKnowledge of banking systems, products and services and strong background in specific area of banking for products supported.Familiarity with brand strategy, marketing strategy and business planning and budget management.Excellent interpersonal skills required, including strong verbal, writing, public speaking, and presentation skills.Solid analytical, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills.Skill in customer relations, such as the ability to respond with sensitivity and sense of urgency to customer needs or requests.Strong knowledge of social media strategy.Proficient knowledge of personal computers and applications and in the technology related to the specific products supported.Strong planning ability, attention to details, and the ability to work in a self-directed manner.Desired Skills and Abilities:Self-motivated individual that works well with a team or individually as necessary.
