Product Marketing Manager, SurfZone AI

Surfline Inc, Los Angeles, California, United States, 90079

Summary:

We are seeking a Product Marketing Manager to drive growth for our Surfzone AI product. Surfzone AI (SZAI) delivers essential coastal data and insights by leveraging bespoke machine learning algorithms, patent protected processes and a network of ocean-facing cameras. We provide decision-makers with detailed, real-time data on recreational beach usage, waves, weather, sand and beach profiles, and more. As the coastal environment faces unprecedented challenges, our 35 years of experience in building a leading consumer beach application positions us strongly to expand our offering in support of both government and businesses operating in this area.

Reporting to the Director of Product Marketing, the ideal candidate for this opportunity is a highly motivated and growth-minded Product Marketer with experience at a B2B or B2G software company. You'll leverage this expertise, along with strong communication and relationship-building skills, to help us create demand, develop leads, close deals, and deepen customer engagement. You will establish and execute our go-to-market strategy, create our core messaging & positioning, and drive our campaigns. You will manage our relationship with strategic partners and help us deepen those engagements. You are excited to be the first marketing hire within a new line of business and are just as comfortable getting in the weeds as you are creating high-level strategy.

Under Surfline’s “Work from Anywhere” policy, this position may be performed on a full-time remote basis from California or a variety of locations in the US.

What You'll Do:

Own, implement, and optimize the go-to-market strategy for a new line of business within Surfline - SZAI.

Craft compelling messaging and positioning, working closely with Product and Sales to ensure our messaging aligns with target audience needs and differentiates SZAI.

Build effective sales collateral (case studies, website, pitch decks, videos etc.), making it easy for both our sales team and customers to understand our product, technology, and value propositions.

Assist our SZAI product leader with the creation of white papers and technical blog posts.

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with our strategic partners, ensuring alignment on goals, expectations, and deliverables.

Represent the company at industry trade shows and help us generate high-quality leads.

Lead SZAI marketing campaigns from ideation through execution and delivering on KPIs.

Develop and maintain a detailed headline calendar, that includes both campaigns and content.

Work with the strategy team to maintain strong market intelligence, keep up to date on industry trends, and make recommendations for changes to our products and offers.

Lead qualitative and quantitive research efforts, build user understanding and empathy, and provide voice-of-customer insights to all SZAI stakeholders.

Help establish a culture of planning, execution, and accountability within the new business line.

What We're Looking For:

5+ years of Product Marketing experience at a B2B or B2G software company with a highly technical product.

Proven track record of delivering tangible business outcomes.

Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and visual), and experience making complex technical concepts accessible and understandable.

While not a trained copywriter or designer, someone who is comfortable creating simple user-facing content, but knows when it’s time to outsource to other creative partners.

Proven track record of influencing and leading cross-functional teams without authority. You know how to develop an idea, get buy-in, and manage teams to make it happen.

Strong project management skills. You can follow through and are highly detail-oriented.

Comfort operating in ambiguity within a small, scrappy company.

Growth mindset, you are not afraid to take on projects that you’ve never done before.

You embrace change and are flexible in adjusting strategies and approaches based on new information.

Experience working in a B2G environment is a plus.

You May Also Have:

An interest in cutting-edge technology, particularly in the AI space.

Experience working with or marketing computer vision technology.

Experience working in coastal engineering, coastal science, the management or development of Local Coastal Plans, or other coastal resource management.

A passion for the ocean and-or surfing.
