The City of Saint Charles Human Resources Department is currently recruiting for the position of Special Events Coordinator for the Special Events and Communications Department. The purpose of this position is to oversee and maintain the City's social media outlets and website. This position will be responsible for creating digital content for online outlets City-wide, including, but not limited to, videos, graphics, infographics, web banners and written content.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties are required and will be assigned.

Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with our marketing goals.

Create, curate, and manage engaging content across various platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).

Monitor social media channels for trends, mentions, and customer feedback; respond promptly and appropriately.

Collaborate with the communications team to plan and execute campaigns, promotions, and events.

Analyze social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.

Stay updated on industry trends, platform updates, and best practices to keep our social media presence innovative and effective.

Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure timely and consistent messaging.

Engage with online communities to build relationships and foster relationships in the community

Minimum Training and Experience Required

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

Proven experience in social media management and content creation.

Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to analyze data and derive actionable insights.

Creative thinking and strong attention to detail.

Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer) and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights).

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

Some evenings and weekends are required with this position.

The office environment is typical with no unusual requirements. Some travel between locations is required.
