Primary Purpose of Position:Parks & Recreation is seeking an enthusiastic
Design Coordinator
to be part of the Marketing and Communications Team. The Design Coordinator produces promotional and marketing materials independently and with input from internal and external stakeholders. This position serves as the division's graphic designer, overseeing and leading the production of all printed and electronic materials, while also assisting in the development of a unified brand that aligns with the division's mission, goals, and values.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ensuring all design work of the marketing and communications team is of high quality, following best practices and representing the division well.Creating and designing logos, art, infographics, and charts in a variety of file formats, as requested by division staff, ensuring directives are followed and client expectations are met.Creating and designing formats and layouts for a wide variety of marketing and communications materials for print, social media, and online use.Drawing illustrations for social media, websites, educational materials, onsite signage, marketing items, advertisements, campaigns, and more.Drafting the annual print plan and creating and managing a print budget.Overseeing the production of material for marketing and communications, including park maps, brochures, Annual Passes, Passport books, flyers, posters, reports, certificates, and educational materials.Working with the PIO, division leadership, and park staff to revise, edit, or draft text and park information on marketing and communications materials. A review of publications should be conducted on at least an annual basis.Working with the division's geographic information systems specialist to create or update maps that are simple, clean, and easy to understand.Working with the PIO and leadership to create brand standards for the division that include colors and fonts, as well as guidelines for all print and online material. The brand standards should adhere to and try to exceed ADA requirements and should fit with the division's mission, values, and goals.Supervising one temporary communications specialist position.Position/Physical Requirements:
Must be available to work after hours and weekend when necessary.Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid NC driver's license within
90 days
of employment.
