OverviewWe are seeking a full-time User Interface Designer 2 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for creating compelling User Interface experiences, delivering superior design solutions, and leading small to medium sized projects.Essential FunctionsCreates compelling User Interface design options based on existing design languagesHas thorough working knowledge of Garmin product lines and their associated technologies for projects they are assignedHas thorough understanding of competitive products/markets for projects assignedActive contributor in concepting, mockups, researching design trends, moodboards, interactive prototypes, animating storyboards, and feasibility of designDocuments/catalogs icons, fonts, and other graphics in an organized manner for future use and continuity of design across Garmin product familiesAble to find root cause and provide solutions for moderately complex problemsWorks under general supervision of Creative Lead while managing own projects and leading small-to-medium projectsCollaborates/provides feedback through participation in User Interface design reviewsGood working knowledge of User Interface design process and how it fits into the overall Garmin product development processPresents new ideas to the Creative Lead and/or user experience teamsCan manage basic tradeoffs on User Interface design with engineering requirements and user experience while involving the Creative Lead and/or Lead designers as neededMentors User Interface Designer 1 and Production Artists and fosters a team culture of creativity, quality and dialogRemains current on traditional graphics design skills and has knowledge on upcoming User Interface design trendsGood knowledge of new design tools and techniquesBasic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Graphic Design/Visual Communication AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experienceExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) with demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledgeProficient knowledge of industry and Garmin-related User Interface design standardsDemonstrates proficiency designing for interactive/on-screen product interfaceDemonstrates strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsMust be flexible and able to work independently or in a team in a fast-paced environmentMust demonstrate strong organization skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasksAdvanced knowledge of required programs: primarily Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and FigmaDesired QualificationsExperience in Visual Communications or Graphic DesignGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
