Each month, LSS-SW supports over 5,000 Arizonans in Metro Phoenix, Tucson, and southern Arizona through programs in Refugee Services, Aging and Disability Services, Family Services, and Emergency Services.
Position Overview: The Refugee Health Promotion Program Coordinator will lead the Refugee Health Promotion initiatives for Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest in Tucson, AZ. This role focuses on coordinating health literacy services, managing wellness groups, and ensuring refugee clients can access essential healthcare services. The coordinator will develop program strategies, monitor program performance, and maintain partnerships to meet the health and wellness needs of refugees while upholding contractual obligations and the mission of the organization. This role requires collaboration, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to promoting health in diverse communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement health literacy and wellness initiatives for the refugee community, identifying appropriate health topics and service delivery methods (e.g., group classes or individual outreach).
Organize wellness groups focusing on adjustment, skill-building, and peer support, and maintain updated curricula for health promotion activities.
Conduct outreach efforts, cultivating partnerships to strengthen program impact and reach.
Track program outcomes, analyze data, and recommend improvements based on findings.
Prepare reports and presentations summarizing program data and ensure compliance with monthly reporting and contractual obligations.
Develop and utilize self-assessment tools to evaluate program effectiveness and client progress.
Provide subject matter expertise and support for health program staff, staying updated on best practices and resources in refugee health.
Attend supervision sessions, program meetings, and training to enhance team performance.
Follow internal protocols for safety and maintain an organized, professional workspace.
Occasionally travel within Arizona or nationally, maintaining a flexible schedule to meet program needs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in health promotion, public health, social work, or a related field preferred; relevant professional experience in human services required, with 2+ years preferred.
Prior experience in health promotion, ideally within diverse or refugee communities, is strongly preferred.
Proficient with computers and related business electronics, systems, and software, including Microsoft Office products.
Professional communications in all forms, strong customer service skills, effective listening, ability to ascertain needs, and exercise good judgment.
Ability to maintain professional credentials, valid AZ driver's license, and a clear driving record.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, operate office equipment, and occasionally lift to 25 pounds.
Ability to work within the mission of LSS-SW.
