Scenic Charge Artist Job at The Cape Playhouse in Barnstable County

The historic Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA; the theater where Broadway goes to summer- is accepting resumes for a Scenic Charge Artist for our 2025 Summer Season which includes productions of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, Rent, Anastasia, Come From Away, and Joan. The rate for this position is $19.50/hour paid bi-weekly. This is a full time position with opportunity for overtime after 40 hrs a week at a rate of $29.25/hour.
This contract begins on May 12th and ends on September 7th. There is some flexibility to start and end dates. Housing may be provided.

The Scenic Charge Artist reports to the Technical Director and Resident Scenic Charge Artist.
The Scenic Charge Artist will work in conjunction with the Resident Scenic Charge Artist to oversee and determine the paint treatments of all scenic, props, electrics, or set dressing elements on all seasonal productions including mainstage shows, concerts, and galas. The Charge Artist will oversee the scenic artists, apprentices and other staff in safe and proper usage of Paint Department tools, techniques, and materials. They, in collaboration with the Resident Scenic Charge, will be in constant contact with the Scenic Designers for each production, ensuring that all shows are being advanced and all supplies are being obtained in a timely manner.
Applicant must have excellent communication skills and be a team player. Skills required include advanced painting skills, crafting, finishing, and group leadership.
