This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.


The Librarian at Kenan-Flagler Business School (KFBS) supports the School's educational and research mission through data/resource acquisition and customer service. The Librarian is fully responsible for the acquisition and management of all of KFBS data and electronic resources. This person ensures that the KFBS community has easy access to a broad range of data and research publications appropriate for business instruction and research in a top tier business school. The Librarian assists faculty, staff, undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral students with research in contemporary business issues.


ERM

  1. Manages electronic resource acquisition, licensing, and payment. Negotiates agreements with vendors, and completes necessary IT paperwork to ensure compliance with university policies.
  2. Maintains acquisition information in appropriate systems, responds to public and staff inquiries, and interacts as needed with vendors and KFBS patrons.
  3. Conducts return on investment analysis of data resources, evaluates usage, and surveys faculty to ensure availability of essential resources and eliminate duplication.
  4. Enables students and faculty to connect to resources in an efficient manner, which includes making resources available on a user-friendly website, individual and group instruction, and troubleshooting access issues.

Reference

  1. Provides research support services about scholarly and data sources for faculty members and undergraduates, MBA, and PhD students.
  2. Offers programming in person and online for faculty and students as needed. Knows business library best practices and resources with respect to providing research service and data to the School community.
  3. Speaks to graduate and undergraduate classes about data sources and creates user-friendly guides for specific courses (MBA and Honors classes, STAR, etc.)
