Schoolhouse is a lighting, home furnishings and lifestyle brand dedicated to thoughtful living and purposeful design. From iconic lighting to one-of-a-kind homewares, our mission is to provide a new generation of heirlooms that inspire people to create unique, meaningful spaces in which to live and work. ABOUT THE ROLE As the Creative Director at Schoolhouse, you will bring our brand to life. You will lead a team of creatives, guiding them to create innovative visuals, messaging, and content that celebrates our products, illuminates why they’re special, and attracts and engages followers and shoppers across our channels. You must be the right mix of business-minded creative strategist and innovative thinker; a senior creative leader who knows when to follow best practices and when to break them, who can manage a cross-functional team, and who has translated a creative vision across many channels before. This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong communication skills and the ability to partner with our leadership, growth, and product design teams. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the charge in developing and articulating the creative vision for Schoolhouse. Constantly push to evolve our brand and all the ways we engage our customers – whether that’s a new product launch, an entertaining Reels series on Instagram, a catalog, an email campaign, or a holiday event. Lead a multidisciplinary team, including copywriting, design, and photography, defining goals that help to achieve company objectives. Develop a creative calendar that allows your team to think big and execute the best ideas in a timely manner; make sure your team meets deadlines. Conceive of campaigns end-to-end from naming to stories to photography to distribution. Generate fresh, smart ideas for both the day-to-day content as well as large campaigns. Present creative plans to leadership on a schedule that allows time for feedback and partnership. Communicate frequently and with organized agendas to leadership, keeping them updated on creative initiatives and progress. Foster a creative and collaborative work environment that sparks innovation and excellence across teams. Stay attuned to industry trends and make sure we’re leading not following. Oversee the creative budget, managing resources to ensure that we maximize our resources; scrappy ingenuity is valued. Evaluate talent and develop organizational plans to support business needs; act as a player/coach to your team. Prioritize multiple high-priority tasks at once, manage your day-to-day schedule, and hit deadlines consistently. QUALIFICATIONS 10+ years of experience working in lifestyle, category-relevant product or retail brands, preferably a digital-first, omnichannel brand. Bachelor's degree in design, graphic design, or a related field and/or equivalent. An exceptional portfolio showing smart, thoughtful design work across branding, retail, marketing, digital and print. Strong design point of view. Excellent design, written and verbal communication skills; you are a talented storyteller. Ability to present and persuasively articulate a creative vision. Experience collaborating across teams, and working with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated knowledge of social, digital, print, and experiential marketing. COMPENSATION The target pay range for this role is between $130,000 - $150,000. This is an exempt role. This role is eligible to participate in the annual bonus program.
