The Library’s goals are enabled through dedicated and knowledgeable staff working within a quality-driven service ethic. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the post of Library Systems Administrator. This post forms part of the LICT team and is responsible for managing and maintaining the library’s IT spaces, systems and infrastructure along with contributing to the development of IT strategies and efficiencies.
Key Performance Areas:
- Manage and administer library-specific servers and server-based applications.
- Ensure the seamless operation of library IT equipment, including student and library staff computer environments.
- Manage the Knowledge Commons (KC) and library MakerSpace, ensuring facilities are well maintained and running optimally.
- Assist with Systems Librarian functions; deputise when needed.
- Collaborate with library staff, ICS, and vendors to align systems with institutional goals.
- Other duties that contribute to overall planning and implementation of Library IT strategies.
Minimum Requirements (Qualification and Experience)
- Matric Certificate with relevant accredited (industry-recognized) professional IT certifications and 5 years relevant experience.
OR
- A relevant IT National Diploma at NQF Level 6 with 3 years relevant experience.
Required Competencies (skills, knowledge and behavioural attributes):
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux servers.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of APIs, networking protocols, and system integrations.
- Proficiency in data extraction, analysis, and visualization tools.
- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, policies and processes as related to IT infrastructure environments.
- Ability to evaluate the applicability of new technologies.
- Knowledge of ensuring security and integrity of IT infrastructure.
