Health Outreach and Education Coordinator / Grant Writer

  • Competitive Salary, based on experience.
  • $65,000 Per Year - DOE.

  • Monday - Friday
  • Hours: 8:30am - 4:30pm
  • Onsite with Availability To Be Remote One Day a Week.
  • Setting: Occupational Health Clinical Center
  • Location: Syracuse, NY

Position Overview:

  • Excellent communication skills needed.
  • Successfully write health grants and navigate them through proper channels.
  • Conduct important outreach for the clinic.
  • Research in the public health field.
  • Provide education on various health issues.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of preventive Occupational Health services consistent with the Center's mission.

Job Duties:

  • Build connections with community leaders.
  • Oversee development of outreach and education programs.
  • Design and conduct outreach and education activities.
  • Develop a Needs Assessment to focus activities.
  • Increase program awareness among target groups.
  • Coordinate oversight of outreach services with partner agencies.
  • Organize data to support various center projects.
  • Develop educational materials for distribution.
  • Analyze research data and write results for publications.
  • Maintain the Occupational Health Clinical Center resource library.
  • Develop grant proposals for specific projects.
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance from various stakeholders.

Academic Duties:

  • Opportunity to teach graduate courses/seminars once a year.
  • Supervise master's in public health students at the Occupational Health Clinical Center.
  • Conduct research projects.
  • Mentor students on independent research projects.
  • Teach modules in Health Systems Science Intersession on Population Health.

Qualifications:

  • Master's in public health with additional training in social and behavioral dimensions of occupational health.
  • Public health experience.
  • 3-5 years' experience in academic and occupational health settings.
  • Doctoral degree in Public Health or related social science preferred.
  • High levels of initiative and commitment to occupational health.
  • Passion for public health and willingness to engage with the community.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to support scholarly activities in occupational health.
  • Skills in data extraction and analysis using software (e.g., SAS, Excel, NVivo, Maxq).
  • Ability to prepare written work for publication and presentations.
  • Background in academia is beneficial.
