Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill 3 part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Student Outreach Assistant positions for the KidSpirit Program in the Division of Extension and Engagement at Oregon State University (OSU). KidSpirit’s goal is to provide a quality and safe environment for all campers, parents, and staff. Employees should always be prepared and willing to respond to the unexpected. KidSpirit prides itself in challenging its employees to grow as individuals while gaining professional experience.

Position Duties

100% – Specific duties and percentages vary depending on the student assignment but duties may include:

  • The major duties of this position include creating graphics for program brochures and posters, social media, editing websites, and developing presentations. The student will use InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, and other platforms as necessary.
  • Manage social media posts, create flyers, videos, and a variety of projects to promote KidSpirit activities.

Other Duties May Include:

  • Assist with the creation, editing, updating, and maintenance of program projects and reports; maintain a variety of schedules.
  • Attend orientations, meetings, and in-service trainings.
  • Complete and submit appropriate documents as needed (incident/accident reports, monthly time sheets, lesson plans, etc.).
  • Use information technology to assist with maintaining systems or database security.
  • Perform data entry functions which may include personal information.
  • Process financial transactions (cash, check, and credit card payments) and make cash deposits.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies inventory.
  • Administer first aid and activate emergency action steps if medical attention is required. May care for sick/injured students including handling medications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard:
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program.
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term.
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term.

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications

  • Current, valid First Aid certification by start of programming.
  • Current, valid CPR Adult/Child certification by start of programming.
  • Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN) certification by start of programming.
  • Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety certification by start of programming.
  • Foundations for Learning.
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
