Summary
The Web Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining innovative web-based solutions to support the university's marketing and branding initiatives. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the developer will leverage their expertise in both front-end and back-end technologies to create engaging digital experiences that align with BGSU's brand identity and strategic objectives.
Essential Functions
Builds, designs, and maintains all websites and software applicationsDesigns, writes, and edits website contentUnderstands UI, cross-browser compatibility, and general web functions and standardsCreates solutions for identified problems or bugsExecutes assignments with the use of web applications (HubSpot), content management systems, scripts, and programming languages (Ex. HTML, CSS, JavaScript)Collects, cleans, and analyzes data from various sources both internal and external to derive meaningful insights. Using statistical techniques, create visualizations, and collaborate with the digital teams to optimize website performance, enhance user experience, and make data-driven decisions.Collaborate with Associate Director of Digital Strategy, Digital Designer and Developers, Directors, Brand Specialists, News and social media, and Graphic Design on development and analytics projects. Attend staff and division-wide meetings.Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
The following Degree is required:
Bachelor's Degree. Degree must be conferred at time of application.
The following Degree is preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Visual Communications, Computer Science or related
The following Experience is required:
3 years of experience in website development and content management systems
Final candidates will be asked to provide a portfolio of effective web development and/or content management systems
The following Experience is preferred:
Proficiency with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and web applications and services
Experience with Web Based system such as HubSpot

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Learning Management System knowledge at a Higher Ed level preferredIs proficient in the utilization of a variety of development programming languagesExperience with development tools is desiredAbility to effectively handle multi-task projects and assignmentsSkilled in analyzing, troubleshooting and problem solvingAbility to learn new skills, techniques and programming languagesAbility to follow standards and procedures for the organizationSkilled in effective verbal and written communications
