Job Description Summary
Under the supervision of the Senior Art & Editorial Director, the Graphic Designer develops strategically-driven, brand-compliant, creative collateral for all areas of the Penn Museum. Projects include digital materials for the website, marketing campaigns, social media, emails, ads, and animated promos. They also design a variety of print materials including flyers, brochures, event programs, invitations, sections of Expedition magazine, banners, and outdoor graphics.
The person in this role also supports Marketing Communications needs with occasional onsite photography and is responsible for the digital asset management of an image database. They also assist with maintaining the Museum’s on-site wayfinding system. The ideal candidate incoporates DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) principles into communicating the Museum, ensuring that the institution’s visual language reflects and engages audiences of diverse backgrounds.
The person in this role should be highly organized and deadline-oriented, with a focus on attention to detail. As part of the larger Marcomm team serving diverse Museum departments, they should possess a collaborative spirit with openness to feedback.

Job Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Senior Art and Editorial Director, the Graphic Designer creates digital materials for the website, marketing campaigns, social media, emails, ads, and animated promos meeting usability and accessibility standards.
Under the supervision of the Senior Art and Editorial Director, the Graphic Designer designs a variety of print materials including flyers, brochures, event programs, invitations, sections of Expedition magazine, banners, and outdoor graphics.
This role supports Marketing Communications strategic needs by shooting occasional onsite photography as assigned. This role is also responsible for digital asset management of photographs used primarily by Marketing and Communications and Development departments. This includes curation of highlighted images; metadata and keywording for searchability; applying a consistent dating and labeling system; and managing captions and photo credits where needed.
Wayfinding graphic design, production, and installation.
Performs other duties as assigned or as support for the Marketing Communications team. Examples include coordinating with print vendors, overseeing installation of graphics, submitting purchase orders and processing invoices for design projects.
Qualifications
Associates Degree in digital design, graphic design, or a related field required and 3-5 years of design and production experience for digital and print required
BFA/BA Preferred
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software on a Mac platform , specifically Indesign, Photoshop, and After Effects
Ability to work within established brand guidelines and maintain design consistency across media platforms
Candidate must be organized and detail-oriented with an ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple projects at once.
A collaborative spirit and ability to work effectively with others as part of a team.
Preferred skills:
BFA/BA in digital design, graphic design, or a related field
Strong asset management and organization skills for file management
Basic photography skills including familiarity using a DSLR camera and image editing experience
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, responsive design, and web accessibility
Working knowledge of print and digital production processes and optimizing final files for delivery
Project and vendor management experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
